People don't want their bubbles burst. Being able to compartmentalize things that we don't understand and scare us is how we continue to function. People need to be very gradually educated.

Seems somewhat inefficient, concussions have been shown to have the opposite effect to education.

real talk: i am starting to believe the repubs are speaking against video games solely to try to distance themselves from the growing alt-right movements who seem to play lots of these games

Theyve always spoken against videogames though. That might be a part of it, but I feel like a lot of it is to do with the fact that they're old, and they don't understand that just because I can go on a violent killing spree in most games doesn't mean that I want to do that in reality. Even if there were not any consequences.
