Because punishment can exist in simulations too, y'know. Especially simulations. Also, just because it was made doesn't mean it was necessarily easy or fast to make. It could have taken years or decades to create.

Also, reality can be sentient and it not be a simulation too. Any flavor of deity could be responsible.

I do not act good out of fear of retribution. Instead I do it from a sense of duty to the adherence of the new covenant, that of a spirit of peace. Not that I may escape damnation, that is and never has been the reason for loyalty.

That's fair. I act good (now, anyways) because of the golden rule. Do unto others. It's not about only ever wanting to be treated well though, for me. It's about knowing how shit it feels to be treated poorly in a variety of circumstances and working to correct them so I might hope to see some level of betterment in people/the world.

I don't care if it is or not it really makes no actual difference.

Except if it's sentient then it watches me poo and touch my wangdangdoodle but that seems more like reality's problem than mine.
