Well the most dedicated rarely overlapped with the most intelligent.

Though I'm reading an interesting fictitious book where it does overlap and constantly.
keyword fictitious. Though I find it quite humorous. The author actually overlaps them purpose to be humorous.

Interesting. Is that the premise of the book, a side effect of the premise, or merely anecdotal?

It's a side effect.
The book is basically about mass misunderstandings or delusions on a grand scale.
Basically a really dumb person, okay, she's just dumb, dies. She gets reborn and has a chance to avoid her untimely death. Naturally she's motivated to this, but she isn't that smart.
Somehow and partly it's due because she's knows what is going to happen, everyone starts thinking she's a genius beyond reproach. Lots of intelligent people are affected the worst by this, because seeing is believing. Anyways they dedicated themselves to her, even though they wouldn't have otherwise because they feel she's worthy of their intelligence and competence unlike most who are running things.

That's a bit over simplified but it's the general idea of premise and how a few intelligent people react to her incredible insight. Sadly she is somewhat an idiot and she never gets her true intentions across to them.

The fact they are intelligent, they always assume she means something entirely different and not stupid like she really meant.

These intelligent people believes she talks indirectly because she's challenging them to strive to do better. So they dedicate themselves all the more.

Sounds like something that might happen in a manga, to be frank.

Well it is a Light Novel, so it's similar to a Manga.

I joined a book club for Light Novels, so far I've enjoyed it.
