Cod has a tendency to be very fishy as well, it's nice when it's prepared properly.

tbh I actually don't like fish all that much... however I love fresh fish from the fish n chip shop. Sooo maybe I'm a picky Brit :>

Cod is only fishy when it's old. That's how all saltwater fish works. Too much decomp, too much TMA, fishy taste. It probably just seems disproportionately common with cod because of how common cod is and how much cheap old cod is on the market. Cod is basically the McDonald's of fish after all so it's to be expected. The best way to not have fishy cod is to just buy it fresh and use it right away. A mistake a lot of people make is letting frozen cod dethaw too long, then you're right back to excessive decomp.
I've only ever had fishy cod a few times personally. But I also don't eat it much anymore because as far as whitefish goes I'd rather have haddock, flounder, bass, swordfish, tilapia, sole, etc.
