She played the Mother of the Slater clan in Eastenders before transitioning to becoming the firm but fair Inspector Gina Gold in The Bill, who she played for a few years before the character retired and her job was taken over by Alex Walkinshaw's Smithy character, who was a Sergeant at the time.
Sad news! She wasn't bad looking for an older lady.
