Peter Davison's Doctor Who at the end of "Caves of Androzani", OK yeah he did regernerate and turn into Colin Baker, but he said at the time that he might not.

Mr Miyagi's Dad in Karate Kid Part 2, his dying wish was that Mr Miyagi and Sato made up, but Sato was so full of hate, he couldn't do it.
It wasn't until towards the end of the film that he softened and realised hate's wrong.
