Do Taxi drivers in your area have "the knowledge"?

Post by Rich-Allen1976 » 05 Aug 2023, 19:35

IMO some of the drivers here in Sheffield do not.

Like I booked an Uber on Wednesday to Howden House on Union St, Taxi bloke got lost because the Flats don't come up on Satnav, didn't turn up, cancelled on me and charged me about £4 for the flippin' privelige! And it's not the first time that's happened.

Don't get me wrong I am NOT racist, but when most of the licensed Cab drivers in my area are Muslim, it's a bit much that they can't find any address that doesn't INSTANTLY pop up on their Satnav.

I can remember a time, and it's not THAT many years since, that most Cab drivers DID have "the knowledge" and knew their local area like the back of their hands, this was before the world got too lazy to not rely on Satnav tech to get anywhere.

Anyway, can anyone answer this question?

I don't beee-lieve it!

Do Taxi drivers in your area have "the knowledge"?

Actually, "The Knowledge" was a requirement to become a Black Cab driver in the City of London due to complex layout of streets and one-way systems. I could be wrong, but I don't believe it was adopted anywhere else. These days, taxi drivers rely on sat-navs. If they have been doing the job for quite a while they might develop a good knowledge of city streets, but outlying estates would be a different story.
To those just starting on the journey of life I say...
Bang your own drum. Walk your own path. Live wildly. Love fiercely.
As you near the end, look back with no regrets.
