Sad news, he was basically the American equivalent of Jeremy Kyle (even though according to Wikipedia JS was actually English by birth) and his show was just as controversial as the JK show if not a LOT more so.
Thoughts?

I wish I enjoyed his show, but wasn't really a fan. Too much.. anger, I enjoyed watching Maury instead.

He used to wind the guests up on purpose, so they'd react in kind, like Jeremy Kyle did on his show.

i find half of daytime tv shows are about exploiting their crowd to some capacity

I always assumed it was all fake. Like a trashy soap opera pretending to be legit but doing a poor job. Highly entertaining.

I am sad he is dead, especially at a young age 79 is pretty young nowadays. I was however more of a Jeremy Kyle fan. Jerry's was too much fighting

JK show was full of Chavvy women with 6 kids by 3 different blokes, and they never knew who the Dad was, it was like the plot of the first Mamma Mia movie (they're doing MM 3 apparently)
