As everyone in the UK by now knows, this Monday and Tuesday is set to see temperatures close to, if not at, 40C.

What's your plan of action to cope with this?

The high today where I am is 110°f , (like 43°c). This is a standard part of Summer where I live. It's still above average. I stay inside and run the AC. If you have to go outside, RIP.....

Staying inside as much as possible. Not doing much. Lots of water. Keeping curtains closed and a fan circulating cooler air. Got a paddling pool full of water in the garden, but to hot to go outside atm. Will go and cool down later.

It's already 35C outside, and still going up. Bear in mind that official temps are "in the shade", so areas with direct sun will be a LOT hotter.

#2 son wants to go sword training tonight. Is he mad?

It's going to be 21C overnight

It's only 40 degrees and all Brits are complaining.

I'm guessing since those highs aren't typical, AC is not standard for all homes (UK)?

So when it's like 43°C outside, our AC is set at 25°C.*

*Thanks to Google for the F to C conversions.

AC in our homes? No chance for the vast majority of us. AC in our schools? Not a chance this side of the next century. Anything over 30C is regarded as hot. 43C and I'm expecting to have a personal visit from Lucifer. Rails are buckling. Roads and runways are getting soft and sticky, and it will be just as bad if not worst tomorrow.

Think the only places i've seen AC are hospitals
