So, how is everyone here managing the Virus and it's repercussions?

Post by Ferefire » 18 Mar 2020, 00:37

From my perspective, I'll repost what I just posted on fb -

Over the last several years I've literally been planning for the "AL-pocalyse" from a cash point of view. Just in case something really bad dropped on us. Glad to see I was not paranoid as we all literally are going through something out of a movie.. So just to reassure everyone that AL will more than ride this one out and our events will return, even if this virus ends up running all year and even more postponements become necessary (which really would be the apocalypse, let's be honest).

For now, we go into hibernation and re-focus on our first passion - our online community and forum. A great chance now to build that up and upgrade everything there!

Anyway, events and forums are, as always secondary to basic survival. I really hope that all of you are keeping well, and I'm about if you need a word of advice or someone to rant to. Good luck all, let's get through to the other end together!

Over to everyone else here. How bad is it for you? Are there silver linings amongst this?

Means we can focus on stuff we wouldn't have time for before I feel. You can focus on yourself rather than running around and not having time. Now we have all the time!

Luckily I don't work, so it's been nothing more than little inconveniences like the closed movie theaters and libraries. As long as I don't run into the people I don't get along with, I'm ok. *lol*

Despite the stores being empty shelved and full of wackos, it was pretty much business as usual up until today. They've limited buses to 10 riders or less at one time. I take the bus far distances. So the thought of getting delayed or stuck a town over has me staying home.

It's fine though. As anime fans we are all part shut in by default. I'll probably spend most of my time getting loaded and breeding Pokemons.

Life is much the same for me, still gotta go work everyday come home eat, sleep repeat. The only difference is everyone is talking about some virus instead of the usual bs.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Life is still the same, only with mask, gloves and lots of disinfectant.

There is only one thing that changed in my life.

It's more difficult to buy toilet paper now.

But I managed somehow.

things in the retail sector is not great. Customers panic buying anything and everything they can get hold of. Abuse from customers when they can’t get what they want, but they don’t seem to understand that we’re potentially putting ourselves at risk so that stores can stay open as it’s not possible for us to work from home.

I'm ok, not worried about getting it myself, but my mum and brother are in the very at risk category so I'm really worried about them. I'm not going round to visit so that I don't put her at risk and I know she's already struggling with the isolation.

I'm working from home from Monday onwards.

They closed California so I'm stuck at home since nothing I have to do is important.

Do you work there? I've had to stop looking for work because of this mess. I'm gonna run out of beer money eventually.

Not being able to find toilet paper is the big change. Other than that, nothing except the news never changes. The same story with the same facts with a few extras once in awhile keeps repeating over and over again. I like news when it’s news, something new.
