Many names come from these languages for many reasons (e.g. because of Christianity or Islam becoming popular (Bible was in Greek and in Hebrew and Arabic is related to Hebrew and it is also the language of Quran) etc., or because modern romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish, Portugese, Romanian etc.) come from Latin.
What are some interesting names from your country, the country of your ancestors, your friends' names or just some you know which don't come from Hebrew, Arabic, Greek or Latin?
Swahili? Yoruba? Chinese? Japanese? Korean? Indic? Celtic? Germanic? Slavic? etc. (sorry, I can't list all of them)

I can list some Slavic (in this case Polish) names.
E.g. Radosław, Mieczysław, Bogumił
They're funny because they are build from two words. E.g. Bogumił consists of (modified by the grammar) bóg (god) and miły (liked/nice), so it means something like "liked by god".
What are yours? I think the name Kieran is an Irish (so Celtic) name, right?

Ishkoobulutunga - A name I invented which comes from nowhere and means 'red faced elbow licker' in Tabulabulu, the language of the Ku'bu'muru'tu tribe.
