Now you can using this thread. I've lived in South Africa and I've had food that is too die for and I want to share that with others on Animeleague.

Yes. Chocolate Energy Drink. As least that's the excuse I use whilst drinking it.

I've lived in places with diverse food choices for a while, so not much seems foreign now.

My favorite type of food is moroccan, probably followed by middle eastern.

Build a wall round this thread to keep the taco trucks out.

Also, how braised octopus is a thing of beauty. Also for you non-Scots.

Omg scots still eat haggis?

Haggis is a unique food experience. I've tried it but I didn't like it one bit.

I've had moroccan food twice, the first time was amazing. I especially like the bread because they put spices in it, at least fennel but something else too. Maybe coriander. That would match my memory of it I think. Never had bread like that again though, may have been that place's specialty. In general moroccan uses aromatic spices. It has curry but a drier curry than other varieties, not dry as in the absence of liquids but dry as in deriving its flavor from herbs and spices rather than meat, grease, and vegetables. I think the curry I had was just a straight up soup, maybe with squash I don't know (I've made squash and rosemary curry myself, and moroccan food was my inspiration; I may be mixing the two up).

It shares roots with middle eastern via muslim culture, so they're similar in the types of spices they use, plus cooking with yogurt and mint being a unique thing of the variety. Also plenty of chickpeas. I think the main course at my first moroccan restaurant was some sort of roast fowl on a bed of chickpeas and sauce. Anyway the closest type of food it's nearest to is indian maybe, especially like tikka masala, but if you think about it geographically moroccan is both african food and mediterranean food, and it takes influence from both.

Middle eastern food isn't that uncommon, at least everywhere I've lived. I mean, kebabs are middle eastern food. Falafel is middle eastern food. Both of those are pretty commonly known in most places in the US, as far as I can tell.

I've a bit of Indian and Filipino food but never from their actual origins. Just from friends who are native and make me awesome lunches from time to time.

Of course we still eat haggis. Black, red and white puddings also.

Nothing like deep frying a pizza too~

I love haggis and black pudding. I'll eat pretty much anything once. Just not cock roaches and I'll never touch mushrooms again
