I did indeed! I suffered from what was deemed moderate to severe clinical depression from 2007-2017. I then got to a breaking point, had enough, and sought help. Was in therapy and on antidepressants for a little over a year. Got my head straight, graduated college (finally), and just recently got out of a dead end job and started a career working for the state.

Oh, it was a journey.

I wasn't stating that as a general thing. It was something that related personally. The feelings of depression in this case comes from isolation and loneliness but that is due to my acerbic nature, confrontational personality and general (but not total - which provides evidence to the contrary) lack of empathy. But then I see examples of those that crave to be liked and friends with people, those that so desperately want to be loved and I think to myself.... nah... I'd rather die alone and unloved than be a simpering creep.

So death, the most terrifying of ills, is nothing to us, since so long as we exist, death is not with us; but when death comes, then we do not exist. It does not then concern either the living or the dead, since the former it is not, and the latter are no more.

I was only speaking personally.

I guess I’m just scared. The doctor seems to think that my insomnia and occasional depression won’t go away until I talk to a therapist about shit in my past. But it was so long ago and I don’t want to drag it back up... ugh..
