I'm waiting for the band to make it big.....
Our band should have been called 1023MB... Because we haven't had any gigs yet *badum tsss* sorry that was probably one for CL XD
It's ok. I almost googled it. I'm like, "1023????"
1023 Mb is 1 Gig.
Officially, a Gig is 1000 Mb, but it's actually 1023 Mb.
Just like 1 TB is 1000 Gigabytes.
Hope that helps

I don't beee-lieve it!

Well.... not to be pedantic, but I'm going to...
In binary kilobytes its 1024, but in decimal kilobytes its 1000. Its 1024 because its 2 to the power of 10, 10 bits with 2 possible values is 1024 possible combinations. Your harddrive usually shows the maximum storage space to be smaller than what is advertised on the box because of conversion errors between the binary and decimal data types when calculating from hardware to software. That doesn't mean you've been scammed, the harddrive is still the advertised size, but in hardware you also need to allocate memory for addressing which byte is being written. Things get even more fuzzy when you start looking into ECC RAM where you also have to use parity bits and none of the numbers match up anymore...
In conclusion the 1023MB joke is still witty and valid.

Aye, just like the "Y2K Bug" non issue almost 24 years ago.
Purely a ruse by the likes of Dixons/PC World to get everyone to buy a new "Millennium proof" PC for Christmas in 1999, and some people were actually daft enough to fall for it! (Not me though)
