It'll be on Monday the 8th of May next year following the actual Coronation ceremony on Saturday the 6th of May.

So you'll all get a day off work, more time to post on here (I bet some of y'all post on here from work anyway lol)

Playing Devil's Advocate here, you could consider these big showy displays as a PR for Britain as a whole and a way to generate immediate money from trade and tourism as well as medium to longer-term overall influence and income which is obviously less quantifiable. The term to look up here is "soft power".

To put it into another context - The Queen's funeral was seen apparently by one half of the entire planet (4 billion - over twice that of the Olympics) and was the most televised ever in the world. That counts. And so will the Coronation for Charles (despite the fact he's clearly a bit of a douche). Good PR for UK Plc as we seek to further ourselves in the world and to generate the funds to help our ever aging population accompanied by dwindling resources, opportunities, workers, innovation and so many other problems. The only things we still do right are basically co-running the world's banking system via London and be a very good PR and services agency - without those, uhm good luck.. ¬¬

Btw, I do suspect whereas most people call Queen Elizabeth as simply "The Queen", people will not call King Charles as "The King" but simply as "Charles". I have heard this already in day to day life, I am interested in what everyone else has picked up on this?
