Going to throw in Spider Man 2? I'll be honest it isn't amazing, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is up there considering the sales

Yeah I wasn't too sure when that would be released or if it gave themselves enough time to get a decent reception from the public because I think nominations close soon I believe

Here are the 2023 nominees! https://thegameawards.com/nominees/game-of-the-year

Most of the nominations going to Alan Wake 2, Spider Man 2, Baulder's Gate 3, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros Wonder. Now that we have the nominees what are you guys' thoughts/predictions now?

Baldur's Gate 3 might win seeing as it's PS5 exclusive (at the moment, rumour has it it's coming on Xbox before the end of the year)
"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!" (Michael Palin in Monty Python's "Life of Brian")
"I am speaking UK English in a Sheffield accent!" (Me most of the time I'm on the landline or mobile)

Putting a remake on the Game of the Year nominations is a bit of a rip off imo. It (RE4) was highly recieved back in the day it just seems unfair to put essentially the same game up against new ones. Also quite impressed we get two Nintendo nominations usually it's just the one at most

These are the nominees?
Alan "Who asked for this anyway" Wake 2?
Resident Evil 4: We should have hired Bluepoint to do the remake Edition?
Mario/Zelda: Oh no, not another one...?
Spider-man 2: We wanted Tobey Maguire tho :c ?
Baldur's Gate 3: An acquired taste for the niche?

Yep, its been a grim year...

The only worthwhile thing I can see is Pizza Tower for Best Debut Indie Game...

Yeah its good to see Pizza Tower up for nomination. I personally havent played it but I do know some people here (more in the AL discord) that enjoy it. The other nominees in that category I actually never heard of.

Same with Dave the Diver for Best Independent, for those who I know played actually loved the game and actually recommended the game to me (still havent got round to it yet lol).

Idk how good Party Animals is I've just seen a few clips and I know its a recent play amongst streamers who do community streams but I see that getting a award- most likely best Family Game idk... the other nominations for Best Multiplayer are strong af I will be surprised if Party Animals comes away with both awards

(edit: upon writing this I didnt realise Super Mario was also in the Best Family Game category so Party Animals probably won't win anything because its Mario lol)
