I cant believe a thread hasnt been created yet!!! Personally I am super excited about this game and I am definitely planning on getting it!

So Hogwarts Legacy is going to be a open world game based in the Wizarding World. I believe its not limited to Hogwarts but there are additional locations like the Dark Forrest, Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and all those cool places. It is set in the 1800s (so sadly we dont get to see the usual characters from the HP franchise) where you can grow as a wizard, select what you want to specialise in whether you want to be a potions master or a mighty magical beasts tamer or you can do a Tom Riddle or Grindawald and become a dark wizard the choice is yours! The best bit? You get your own house sorting ceremony!!!! The game is linked with the Wizarding World site so you can already get sorted into your house ready for gameplay. This game is available on PC, Xbox, Playstation and Switch and the projected release is Q1 of 2023 (February 10th)

Who is getting it? I will also gradually post any updates and previewed gameplay on here in the run up to release!

My 11 year old Niece is Potter mad, she'll be 12 next year when this comes out but I still might have a look.

Oh hang on, if Harry and all his pals aren't in it, I don't think she'll be that bothered.

Personally, I've been waiting for something like this for ages! I think one reason why its not explicitly based off Harry Potter is because JK Rowling has had no involvement in this, this is more of the works of Wizarding World or at least they have some involvement. There *might* be some older characters from Fantastic Beasts because that was also set way earlier than Harry Potter and there have been rumours of seeing older descendants of the Weasley family. its not the exact same, I know but maybe some family names may be recognisable at least.

Ive seen people trying to slate the developers for the creation of this game by saying JK Rowling is involved which makes me laugh XD "Dont get the game" people say. Ive even saw a Tik Tok this morning not only saying that JK Rowling is involved (false) but comparing goblins and Voldermort and his deatheaters to facism and antisemitism XD Saying all Voldermort is doing is giving wizards who have failed a second chance or something stupid and Im just sat here like "oh sweet mother of Jesus you dont have a clue". I dont even think Voldemort is in this game so he was clearly talking out of his ass

Quite a few things have been announced as the game nears its release date, most notable announcement to date is the phased releases with the different consoles. As it stands PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release date remains the same (10th February 2023). Releases for PS4 and Xbox one has been pushed back with the new announced date being 4th April 2023. The game is now also set to be released on the Switch, which they were not set on doing originally, but the Switch version is set to release on 25th July 2023.

Which console are you guys planning on getting it on?

When I get a new computer, I wouldn't trust games on how slow it is. I'd like to though.

Pay day was yesterday for me so I got to preorder the game, finally. Guess that means I'm transphobic now according to social media folk

Disclaimer: The comment is sarcasm, although I don't support what Rowling says, its got nothing to do with the game so the developers should not be punished for it. Ive seen a few early clips and it looks beautifully made, this really should not be left unnoticed.

My 12 year old Niece is a Potter fan, so I might have a look for her benefit.

I'm not dropping £60 on the deluxe version though, I'll see if it ends up on Game Pass (probably will eventually)

Yeah I've not gone deluxe version, just the regular version. If you are talking about Xbox game pass I cant imagine it being on game pass until its released on all consoles- idk that would make sense to me.

Even the regular version's about 50 quid.

Games are too expensive now, I can hark as far back as the mid to late 80s when "full price" games were only a tenner.

I'd say 50 quid is slowly becoming the standard price for big games, it's been like it for a bit and there are even some games that go beyond that- like as much as £70!
