Both fleets should be at least Lv65 and equiped mostly with purple-tier equipment at +5 or better if you want to comfortably cruise through the chapter (No pun intended) The enemies do seem a bit more tanky and a little bit harder to grind down in relevance to the previous chapters. also, stage 6-4 has a Super Rare ship, Yuudachi but any farmable Gold-tiers can only drop from the boss node on the stage, so you could probably end up drowning your fleet in the amount of Oil you burn through trying to farm for them  In any case though, the drops/rewards can potentially get really good from chapter 6 onwards, depending on your luck with RNG

I'm currently on 6-4 too, but also working on a proper exercise fleet.

Awesome! Both my fleets are now in their 80s with mostly purple gear or at least +4-5 blues if nothing else. I'm going to try and smash in to Chapter 6 this evening when I get a spare hour or so and see how far we can get. Thank you for the sound advice as always ;)

Just completed Stage 6-1 on my lunch break and yeah... they definitely are a bit tougher! Are you using any white ships in your first or second fleet? I've got a couple purely because I haven't got any blues, purples or golds near those levels to replace them yet!

Actually I've been able to bring in some pretty decent ships, though some of them through medal exchange, some through events and others while farming. I did get some via the gacha banners though, just not many of them were particularly special. I've had so many instances where I had to retire ships to free up dock space during the stages so I managed to obtain quite the collection of exchange medals and got Illustrious a few weeks ago, and Warspite last week, who is still the top prize on the Sandy server until Thursday/Friday I think. annoyingly though, common-tier ship doesn't give you any medals

Nice set of fleets and quite the collection :) I'll grab some screens of mine when I get a minute or two, not quite as impressive as yours mind! I too have Illustrious and Warspite; Illustrious is in my second fleet thanks to her armored carrier skill, paired with Unicorn at her support carrier skill (which I've maxed out!) I'm starting to understand the game more and more and am still thoroughly enjoying getting to grips with it. And you'd be correct; commons only give you money and oil and very little of it at that :(

You're not doing too bad with what you have so far though

Unicorn and Illustrious are pretty decent too. also, it's worth levelling up their skills too, as they have some pretty decent support skills.

Laffey, Hammann, Long Island and Bogue all have retrofits. Laffey will take I think 14 Tier 1 Destroyer Retrofit Blueprints, 14 Tier 2 Destroyer and 10 T3 Destroyer and another Laffey or Bulin and 40 T3 Torpedo enhancing plates

I'm not sure on the others but theirs will take much fewer resources

Aye, I maxed out Unicorns support skill and am working on Illustrious now :) They're really handy ships to have and Unicorn has saved my ass a few times  As for the retro-fitting; I've maxed out as much as I can at the moment and am hunting for more parts now so I can finish this process. I think I need to spend some more time re-assessing my fleets though as I now have a number of gold ships that are around the level 30-40 mark that 'could' potentially replace some of my whites and offer a bit more in terms of skills and bonuses.

Laffey is definitely worth retrofitting. I may not have retrofitted my Laffey yet as I not long ago did Ayanami but I've heard promising things about her. Yeah I've been working on Unicorn too. My Unicorn is Lv98 annd I got her 1st skill to Lv7 so far and may also do her other skill if I don't need the textbooks for anyone else. That's what I did over time, with my most recent being that I replaced Portland with Ayanami for my main fleet, then demoted Portland to my second fleet to bulk it up, as she seemed a little bit better than Norfolk.

Man I decided to finally give the Ex stage a shot, and both of my fleets got their asses handed to them on a silver platter  the worrying thing is that later chapters are apparently that hard or harder. I'm glad I'm prepping another fleet now.

Awww Portland has done me ever so proud bless her - not sure I could bring myself to 'bin' her off  I do need to replace some of my 1st fleet now though which is why I have a few in training in the dorm now. I think I've hit the limit really with some of my ships and no matter how much more I enhance or level them, they aren't having the same effect they did in previous chapters. Have you got an idea in your mind for what you want your fleet line-up to look like? I hear Hood and Warspite are the two to have on the back row? :)

Yeah I didn't even attempt it!! I knew I'd get absolutely annihilated so figured I'd stay clear :P Shame the Nep event has ended - I only need White Heart to complete the collection :( :Nep:

I think I'll find a good use for portland in the end. she has a retrofit in the Japanese and I think Chinese servers so she'll eventually also come to us. I hope to build a fleet to utilise both her and Indy.
Well my All Super Rare fleet is going to be mainly for Exercises, but the fleet I'm prepping consists of Enterprise, Warspite and Illustrious as my back three, with Eldridge, Belfast and Either Prinz Eugen or Takao as my vanguard

I feel you on that. I fell short of Purple Heart in the end...
The Z23 event doesn't seem too hardcore, so I feel like I can take my foot of the pedal for the rest of the year now, and start saving up for the next event :)

Yeah! I've managed to get Renown and Suffolk to Lv100 at last :) San Diego, Ayanami, Unicorn and Saratoga are all at Lv99 but it takes over 150k EXP at Lv99 to level up to Lv100

I managed to get Tirpitz too and the UR Magnetic 533mm Torpedos!
