Well, there is some controversy about the game, as the voice actor from the first two games has asked fans to boycott the third.
Helena Taylor, who was the voice of Bayonetta in Games 1 & 2 will not be voicing the titular character in Game 3. Her role has gone to Jennifer Hale, after PlatinumGames said that Helena had too many overlapping commitments and was not available.
Helena has hit back with the comment that she had "nothing but time" and that their offer of $4000 to do the whole game at a flat rate was an "insult" especially as the franchise was expected to generate around 450 Million dollars
"I was just asking for a decent dignified living wage, what they did was legal but it was immoral."
She has also taken umbrage with Hale doing personal appearances and signing autographs as "Boyonetta".
"I created that voice, she has no right to sign merchandise as Bayonetta...they'll [PlatinumGames] probably try and do a spin-off with Jan, don't
buy that either."
PlatinumGames response so far is just to say that the claims are untrue, with Hideki Kamiya tweeting...
"Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That's what all I can tell now."

Personal comment.
I don't know how it works in voice acting.
Is a flat rate normal?
How many hours would the recording take?
What did she get paid for the first two games?
If it is all done and dusted in a week, $4,000 represents an annual wage of over $200,000. On the other hand, if it takes a month that becomes $48,000 a year. Having just asked Alexa about average wages for VA in the USA ($30 per hour), working a full-time gig would generate about $62,000 a year, making the offfer of $4,000 a real slap in the face.
Has she not got an agent? Apparently, she auditioned, was offered the job and then asked what the pay was going to be. That seems the wrong way round to me.

Meh, the "Woke" Guardian reading lefties officially need to shut up IMO.
Remember about 2 years ago when the left kicked up a stink about a certain episode of 70s comedy Fawlty Towers? The BBC banned said episode purely because of the N word, a move which John Cleese himself, creator and star of Fawlty Towers, condemned as "PC gone mad" and I totally agree.

I have mixed feelings about the controversy. On one hand, I wish they'd treat their original VA better as she's clearly upset, but on the other hand I do acknowledge that the job would be completed relatively quickly and it's not a bad pay especially for somebody who isn't particularly active outside of Bayonetta
It's a tricky one

...and now the counter claims have started.
Although no official word from Platinum Games, the Bloomberg News service has today reported that Taylor was offered the role at a rate of $3,000 to $4,000 a session, with 5 sessions of 4 hrs each, making a paycheque of between $15,000 to $20,000. The report goes on to say that Taylor was demanding a six-figure sum plus residuals, which the company rejected. When further negotiations failed to produce a result, they recast the role.
Taylor said to Bloomberg that this account was an "an absolute lie" and said Platinum was "trying to save their ass and the game."
