Netflix to Add Grave of the Fireflies Anime Film

Post by Ojisama » 20 Aug 2024, 19:34

Available to stream from September 16.

The story follows a brother and sister's struggle to survive in the waning months of World War II.

To those just starting on the journey of life I say...
Bang your own drum. Walk your own path. Live wildly. Love fiercely.
As you near the end, look back with no regrets.

It's the one anime I cannot bear to watch again. As soon as it starts I just burst into tears. So much for being the ice queen.

I read somewhere that when they put it in theaters in Japan, it was followed by My Neighbor Totoro, so you'd have something fun afterward. I've also been told it's semi-autobiographical. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good movie. But for your own sake, watch a comedy afterward.

Oh, that thing with the candy tin is true.

Amazon offers the Sakuma Drops Candy tin for a few different anime. The Grave of the Fireflies tin though is really expensive. I'd suggest shopping around. Japancandystore has a good offer.

I should probably think about Christmas candy soon.

I haven't watched it yet. So seems like a good excuse to do so now.

Good plan

Love this film but as others have stated, it wrecks me each time I see it
