Mainly from people who aren't into much Anime. I say something about Dragon Ball, they reply, "Dragon Ball Z."
The way they always refer to it as Dragon Ball Z sounds like they aren't aware that there is also the original Dragon Ball.

Yeah, DBZ seems to be the term used for all of it. Unless you know better.

I will hold my hand up and say I think I'm guilty or at least it sounds like a mistake I make. On the other hand whenever I come across Dragon Ball content I see DBZ specifically being more prominent in online search results and in discussions I've overheard/listened in on. I don't really watch it so I will not be able to tell you if an episode belongs in Dragon Ball or DBZ

Just can't help it y'know. Funnily enough DBZ seems more familiar to me than the OG Dragon Ball

Kai was added to Hulu on 1 July. Dub only.

They only know it through Dragon Ball Z, and I don't think it's a big deal because they don't know much about anime

Thing is it feels like they are in a way correcting us. I say, "Dragon Ball" they say, "Dragon Ball Z" like I'd missed out the Z. When there was in fact a series called Dragon Ball with no Z.
I'm only on season 3 of Z so far, but I think Dragon Ball was better. Dragon Ball I'd say had a better balance of story to fighting. In Z so far, there have been fights stretching out over multiple discs in the boxset, and a repeated bit about Goku returning(first time running back the path from King Kai, second time him healing in that pod Vegeta showed him.)
Him doing this for several episodes over one fight.
I like Z, but at the point I'm at so far I'd say Dragon Ball was better. Just a better balance of plot to action.

Dragonball was part of the anime I first watched that got me into anime. I never watched kai but dragonball and dragonball z
