ITV has signed a deal with Anime Limited to bring over 200 hours of anime to their new streaming service, ITVX, when it launches later this year.
According to a press release, the deal will make "ITVX the free-to-air home of a unique selection of anime television series and films which extends to over 500 episodes and 200 hours...a mixture of over twenty TV series and films, making ITVX the largest AVOD home of anime content in the UK."

Vision of Escaflowne
Lupin the 3rd part 6
Megablox
Cowboy Bebop
ITVX says that there will also be many other series that are "not currently available on any other local platforms."
ITVX will launch in late 2022, and will be available to viewers for free with ads, and to subscribers without ads.

I just googled what AVOD was and that's...isn't that youtube? and crunchyroll?
Hell, I guess it's illegal streaming sites too, but maybe legality comes with the AVOD definition.

Yes, it is basically You-tube and Crunchyroll, neither of which are UK based platforms. It's all in the wording, but here's wishing that this is a small start of bigger things.
Anime Limited is the UK's principal distributer of anime, although since it isn't rolling in money it doesn't compete to get the latest licenses. Hence, a lot of the content will be quite old at first. Gunbuster aired in the late 80's, Escaflowne in the mid 90's and BeBop in the late 90's. It's a good bet that a lot of the series coming out on ITVX will be from the same eras, but it will be a great chance to see some classic anime, and hopefully the revenue stream will enable Anime Limited to do more things.
