Arknights teaser video.

An anime adaptation of the Arknights smartphone game is on it's way, called Arknights: Prelude to Dawn. A teaser video has been streaming.

The game is set in a fantasy world called Terra with modern science-fiction motifs. Terra is plagued by rare but devastating Catastrophes that force most people to live in nomadic cities. Catastrophes also bring forth the rare mineral Originium, which yields high energy and is thus a valuable resource, but also consumes everything around it as it grows. Those with prolonged exposure to Originium easily develop a wasting disease known as Oripathy. The story centers around the lives of Oripathy-infected individuals. A roving medical company known as Rhodes Island offers a helping hand and a place to belong for the often-shunned Infected. However, Rhodes Island has often had to conduct ad-hoc paramilitary actions against the Reunion Movement, a terrorist organization that conducts violent action aimed at governments that oppress the Infected.

Disney+ programs to get Manga adaptations.

Usually, an anime comes from a manga but in this instance the reverse is happening.

The latest issue of Big Gangan magazine (from Square Enix) has revealed that manga adaptations are being produced for two Disney+ shows, and they are quite big ones.

The Star Wars Visions anime anthology, and The Mandalorian will both debut as manga in the next edition of the magazine on May 28th.

Star Wars Visions is an anthology of 9 animated shorts, from a variety of studios, that debuted in September 2021. The manga adaptation will also feature work from a number of artists, including...

Kamome Shirahama (Witch Hat Atelier), who drew the character designs for "The Elder" short in the anthology, will draw an adaptation of that short for the magazine's June issue.
Haruichi (Star Wars Leia, Princess of Alderaan) will draw an adaptation of "Lop and Ochō" in the July issue
Yūsuke Ōsawa (Spider-Man: Fake Red) will draw an adaptation of "The Ninth Jedi" in the August issue
Keisuke Sato (Little Witch Academia manga) will draw an adaptation of "The Twins" in the September issue.

Ōsawa will also draw the manga adaptation of The Mandalorian. The original series is the first live-action series in the Star Wars franchise, and centers on a lone bounty hunter of the Mandalorian warrior culture, and his efforts to track down and later protect a Force Sensitive infant of the same species as Yoda. The show had two eight-episode seasons in 2019 and 2021, and will have a third season.

New app for reading Manga on your smartphone.

OK, I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to smartphones, and I'm sure that there are already some manga reading apps out there.

The US digital publisher Comikey has launched a new app for both iOS and Android, and in celebration it will also be launching access to 5 new series from Square Enix.

My Awkward Senpai (Bukiyō na Senpai.) by Makoto Kudo
The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague (Kōri Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Dōryō Joshi) by Miyuki Tonogaya
The Necromancer Maid (Shiryō Jutsushi no Otetsudai) by Mujirushi Shimazaki and Hama
Rust-Eater Bisco (Sabikui Bisco) by Shinji Cobkubo and Yūsuke Takahashi
The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody (Shijō Saikyō no Daimaō, Murabito A ni Tensei Suru) by Myojin Katou, Sao Mizuno, and Misuho Kobota

The app allows you to read their entire Manga catalogue FOR FREE, with supporting adds.
There are also options that allow free daily chapters, or the bulk purchase of chapters. The first chapter of each manga will be free, along with the most recently published chapter. You will have to buy digital keys to unlock intervening chapters.

Announcements for 2023 Anime

Manga, The legendary Hero is Dead (Yusha Ga Shanda! Murabito no Ore ga Hotta Otoshiana ni Yuusha ga Ochita Kekka) to get an anime adaptation for 2023.

Touka is just your average (slightly perverted) farmer in the village of Cheza. While he daydreams about being a hero and getting the girl, the real hero, Sion, is out battling demons that threaten to invade the world! But one day, Touka accidentally kills the hero…?! With the Legendary Hero dead, who's going to save the world now?! Touka quickly buries Sion's body to hide the evidence, but wakes up the next day to discover he is no longer in his own body…!!

Manga, The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Hyо̄ken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu - Sekai Saikyо̄ no Majutsushi de Aru Shо̄nen wa, Majutsu Gakuin ni Nyūgaku Suru) is to get an anime adaptation for January 2023

The Arnold Academy of Magic is a school for the elite...and Ray White is just your ordinary guy. In fact, he doesn't seem particularly skilled with magic at all, and is a bit of a klutz. Which is why he has nothing to do with the rumour that one of the great magicians, the Iceblade Sorcerer, is a member of the incoming class...right?

Break Blade Manga to come to the end.

Yunosuke Yoshinaga has announced that the current chapter of his Break Blade manga will be the last. Currently, he is working on Chapter 104. He said that it will be 140 pages, in 4 phases, and he is approximately half way through.

The manga inspired a 6 part series that aired in N America in 2010/11, and this was then re-released in 2014 as a 12 part series with new scenes. Sentai Filmworks described the series,

In Cruzon, children are born with the ability to control quartz. This power allows them to levitate simple objects—or control enormous and complex mobile battle suits called Golems. But when an ancient Golem is discovered during the height of a brutal war, a young king and his beautiful queen turn to Rygart Arrow. Though an “un-sorcerer”, Rygart can miraculously pilot this ancient and powerful weapon. But in war, school friends can turn into bitter enemies and allies have suspicious motives.

Call of the Night anime to debut in July

Image

The anime is based off the Manga by Kotoyama (Dagashi Kashi) who launched the Call of the Night in Weekly Shonen Sunday in August 2019.

Viz Media has licensed the Manga, and describes it...

Nanakusa is a vampire. That's okay with human Ko. He wants to be one too. But transformation doesn't come that easily...When Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he's stoked! But then he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them... Is it just the delicious taste of his blood that makes her meet him night after night for late-night adventures, conversation and...naps? Or something else? Then, when a cute girl from Yamori's past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test!

Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 2 premieres in July

The official website for the anime adaptation of Reiji Miyajima's manga Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-a-Girlfriend) has confirmed that the second season of the series will premiere in Japan in the early hours of July 2nd.

Crunchyroll aired the first series of 12 episodes worldwide, and described it...

Kinoshita Kazuya is a 20-year-old failure of a college student. He managed to kiss his girlfriend once, but was dumped after a month. "Ugh... Damn it. I never want to go through that again." Completely spiteful, Kazuya uses a certain method to date a girl. He goes to their meeting place and suddenly hears,"You're Kazuya-kun, right?" A beautiful girl brushing her long, black hair behind her ear was there, smiling at him. Her name was Mizuhara Chizuru. Something real is born after just a single rental! A reckless rom-com filled with love and excitement is about to begin!

A series of promotional trailers have been released, and a live action adaptation will also premiere in July.

Unfortunately, I can't find any mention of any licensees at the moment.

Yuri is my Job gets TV series.

Miman's manga Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu! (Yuri is my Job) is to get a TV anime adaptation.

The story centres on a girl known as Hime. Hime is a high school girl who deeply cares about her image as a sweet, helpful princess but on the inside only cares about herself. Against her will, Hime gets manipulated into working as a waitress at a place that's part café, part theater, where all the waitresses pretend to be students at a fictional German all-girls boarding school. Hime finds herself falling for another waitress at the café, who in front of the customers gives Hime love and devotion like she's never known. There's just one problem: Behind the scenes, Hime's crush hates her guts."
