I thought Naruto was based on a historical figure too but I guess not.
I know Jiriaya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru all are.

well no I looked it up and couldn't find it so I think naruto is really just fictional

I bet somebody in this world has named their child Naruto even though technically it's not a real name.

Yeah, the names are based on Japanese writers.

I read up on the name Naruto from Naruto’s creator. He purposely chose a unique name for his main character. While he based the three legendary ninjas on legendary figures.
