We tried voting at the beginning of the season but not many people participated that could have because many wanted to wait and see.

I imagine a lot of people still use the 3 episode rule before deciding if a show is good or not, so that doesn't really surprise me. And while it wasn't going to be a feature that kicked off interest right away, I do think its a feature that would see more usage over time after a few seasons.

I respect what you say, but I think your and my aims are much different. Let me explain the differences based on what you said.

This is not the purpose of this thread. The purpose of this thread is to explain why some anime are good and some are bad and to help people to choose. If the purpose of this thread were bringing interest, then I would praise popular shows regardless of their quality.

That's not true. Opinions of people who have more expertise are more valuable than laymen's opinions. People who've seen more anime usually have more expertise and vice-versa, people who've seen less anime usually have less expertise. There are exceptions of course. E.g. specialists in literature might have many interesting things to say about anime plots etc.

"ease of inclusion from AL users"

I think people who watch a lot of anime, talk about it in this section of the forum etc. should be included. Other people should not be included. It's a meritocracy-like system. It's not democracy where a vote of a profesor is equal to a vote of a layman.

"removing the need to read negative opinions"

What's wrong with negative opinions? Do people need to smile all the time? I don't and I won't.

"move on knowing said user did not like the show"

It's not important if a single person liked or didn't like the show. It IS important WHY a single person liked or didn't like the show.

I'd agree if it wasn't for the fact you don't see many people outside of A&M staff here anymore which was just kinda sad. Wasn't suggesting it go full the other way, just there being more of a balance.

I'll consider it i guess? While I watch a decent amount each season, I'm much more of a manga person tbh, so my opinion changes considerably on how faithful it can adapt the manga, and on the off chance its better than it.
