Gate Eps 1 & 2 - a mysterious structure appears in Tokyo, and from it issues orcs, wyverns, and mounted troops with swords, bows, and lances. The SDF moves in and defends the people trapped in the area, killing many of the invaders and capturing a few. It's then decided to send troops in to establish a beach head and investigate the lands on the other side.

nah i'm going to watch that after i finish this first arc i think, i got to episode 3 of Fumoffu but didn't understand it at all hence why i'm starting again from the beginning :3

Fumoffu isn't really connected to the other series and not nearly as good. Same characters on the surface, but its a different show. It can be safely skipped.
