Ok, that's 3 for Carol and Tuesday
I was gonna open another thread for last season's shows, but since Tate no Yuusha was both seasons we might be able to say "Best Isekai of Both Winter and Spring 2019". Was it? I can't remember anything better.

I am happy Carole & Tuesday I'll vote for that
I was going to nominate Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind for something although I'm not sure if anyone else here apart from Elgood81 and NataliaJulia has watched it. Maybe I'll leave it
Hell 3 people is enough for basic recommendations based on our activity level.
That's 4 for Carol and Tuesday

You know Rising of the Shield Hero had another important effect I think. It was one of those anime that became popular outside of the entrenched anime community. It was very mainstream at least in the US. But at the same time, it was still a very 'anime' show (read: animal girls, harem). I feel like this makes it deserve a special title other than best isekai of whatever.

Fairy Gone: Recommended action I'll vote for this.
Afterlost (Shoumetsu Toshi) : Biggest Disappointment of Spring 2019 I'll vote for this too.
Sarazanmai - either "Most Gay" or "Best Gay Most Otter" I will vote for "Best Gay Most Otter"
Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin - Most unusual shoujo Was it that unusual? And wasn't more of a supernatural? I'll vote for it, but I might consider changing the category.
Best Revival - Fruits Basket Of course I vote for this

I agree with both of you. How about something like "Breakout Hit of 2019"?

Some unusual (not unique, but also not the most popular) elements in Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin as far as Shoujo is concerned:
1. The main character is an adult male. (As opposed to a young female.)
2. Very few female characters but no yaoi style relationships (As opposed to mostly female characters or mostly male characters with gay relationships.)
3. Love is not the theme at all. (As opposed to love being at least a secondary topic.)
4. This is a story about a police unit and police work + supernatural. (As opposed to relationships in a realistic setting.)
5. It happens mostly in the office or in the street. (As opposed to e.g. school.)
Probably each of these elements was present in other shoujo of course, but there are not so many titles like that. And this show has all of these at once. That's why I think it's unusual (which is good btw.).

Yea, but I think you just described why its not really shoujo, no?

Classifying something as shoujo is based mostly on the target audience by manga publishers. And sometimes also on the art style. So they know on which shelve to put it in a shop. As far as I know this has been classified as shoujo by the manga publisher. So it is shoujo, but an unusual one.
I don't think it's a mistake by a publisher. I think it is targeted towards this audience.

That'd be fine with me except 2019 is far from over yet. Breakout Hit of Spring 2019 would be perfectly fine
