It goes like this.
"Where did those come from?"
"What?"
"THOSE"
My wife is referring to the prominent red scratch marks running down my back that she had spotted as I got out of the shower.
Hold on...it's not what you think.
A few weeks ago we adopted a cat from the RSPCA. A lovely little 1 year old kitten/cat called Lily.
Now, it's been a few years (about 15) since we last had a cat, and when he passed he must have been about 20 years old. A grand old man who spent his days sleeping, and mooching food off the neighbours. We had forgotten what it is like to have a young, energetic, inquisitive, bouncy bundle of fur in the house.
To date she has...broken one of our wedding anniversary gifts.
Stolen the chicken pieces off the pizza we were just about to put in the oven.
Perfected the art of flicking her cat litter over a distance of 4 feet.
We have had to unhook her from tablecloths, curtains, carpets, cloths, towels and cushions. She even managed to get her claws stuck in her own tail when she was chasing it around.
Despite shouts, loud hand claps, blowing in her face and even spraying with misted water, she insists on walking on every horizontal surface in the house, and I spend a lot of time wiping down work tops and table tops.
Her latest trick is to jump onto my back when I'm bending down, hence the scratch marks as she claws her way up. My wife was sceptical, until Lily did it to her this morning.
Hi Ojisama here.
I am a recent member of advancing years, and this is my first Journal.
The only recurring theme will probably be tales of our new cat, but expect other snippets from my life both past and present.
Feel free to post replies, or not, but please do not carry on convos with other members in MY Journal, unless it is regarding something I have posted.

Well it seemed like a good idea at the time.

That sound amazing. Although I always take the cat's side.
"You mess with the cat, you get the litter!"

She has her angelic moments...

but at the moment she is in disgrace after trying to pull all the ornaments off the bottom of the Christmas Tree.

Cats are 80% FIERCE 10% angel and 10% confusing
That said, my kitty Belle is probably closer to 40% confusing

Not her first snow confirmed by the look on her face when I opened the back door for her to go out this morning.
Nope! Not happening! Not going out in that! You can shut the door now thankyou.

The only trouble with going all out for Christmas is that I have lost track of some of my cosplay props. They have probably gone up into the attic to make room for Xmas decorations. Guess I'll have to wait until January.

I'm a few bits of clothing missing. My plastic Wakazashi. Cloak clasps. Steampunk gas mask/respirator. Weapon rings/frogs. I'm sure they will turn up in January when we put all the Xmas staff away.

This becoming a regular thing now. Whenever I bend down, up she gets. Sometimes she just springs up from the floor, digs in just above waist level and then drags herself up. Hence the scratch marks. This was taken just before we took the deccies down.

Things are starting to get a bit serious with my TKD training. I had thought that progression was beyond me now and I was devoting myself to coaching and encouraging my son who is scheduled for his 2nd Dan Grading in April.
Last night, I was approached at the end of class and gifted with the news that I was going to have MY 2nd Dan grading scheduled in the last quarter of the year. Man, that is going to be one tough session. Luckily I have 9 months to prepare. The main focus will have to be for my fitness and stamina. The prolonged break in training due to 2 lockdowns and other social restrictions meant that I lost muscle tone and my lung capacity reduced. At my age, getting back to full fitness is no joke. If the summer weather is kind to me, I will be able to get train outside in the garden. I'll have to look at getting my punching bag put back up, but I need a new frame.
I'll also be going through my instructors certification at the same time. Double trouble.
