Book Review

Terminal: Alliance
Book One of the Janitors of the Post-Apocalypse
By Jim C. Hines

SUMMARY:
When the Krakau arrived on Earth, they discovered that half the human population was wiped out by a mutated plague - the survivors are feral creatures eating anything they can catch. Handfuls are captured at a time, cured, and educated based on what the Krakau could work out about our people. Of course, this isn't for free - thanks to the virus, humans are incredibly hard to kill, so they become the Earth Mercenary Corps, operating Alliance ships while the other alien crew members are recovering from the interstellar jumps and fighting off any invaders.

Lieutenant Marion "Mops" Adamopoulos leads the Shipboard Hygiene and Sanitation team aboard the Alliance ship "Pufferfish", and her and her team are the only ones left unaffected after a bioweapon reverts the rest of the human crew back to their feral state and wipes out almost all the other aliens onboard. Now they have to fend off the attackers responsible, find a cure for the disease to save their feral crewmates, and in the process, stumble on the truth....

Review:
This is a fun read, I had to finish it once I started it. A lot of thought and hard work, with a lot of fun parts about a janitor who winds up fighting everyone in order to save them all.

Yay! Someone liked it!

Okay, so came across an article on Axios called "How the pandemic is changing home design"

It's suggesting all these rooms that'll make their way into large, expensive homes - dedicated offices, guest suites, flex rooms, multiple covered porches, etc. Not on my budget, not in this house unless I can install some sort of elevator to the basement (new heater is keeping the downstairs warm).

I did see how someone made their own bar in a shed, but where would I put that? How would I protect it outside the house?

Of course, I like how this guy 'flexes" his available space.

I don't do it very often. Actually, I'm sorta surprised anyone notices.
