I believe more happens in their lives than they are aware of. We just sort of come comatose to it. Meaning our surroundings are so common place we tune them out as if such things are meaningless occurrences. That said it is difficult to take note of such things. But perhaps poetry and other readings that are simple observances of the author's environments might stir something up that's worthy of notice and writing about.
But outside of that it seems your answer to my question is you want more to happen than ordinary excitement?
