The Life Of A Renegade

Post by Ali-Renegade » 06 May 2020, 22:54

This is a different journal because the one about Nakota is currently on hold until i get some inspiration for some more Synthetic Human adventures. This is actually about my life as a content creator and how i got to where I am now so buckle up and get ready for a really long story that begins when i was just 13 years old and heading into my first year of high school.

So this story begins, well as any other story begins, in a hole in the ground... Hold on a second that's a whole different story this story actually begins at a high school on a road called The Shire. I was a typical 13 year old outcast, i'd rock up with my uniform on in the most rebellious way possible, my walkman attached to my belt and my headphones set to the smallest size that was still too big for my head, usually playing something by The Offspring or Enter Shikari. First week was kinda rough, being the sheltered rich kid meant that i hadn't really been outside much and barely had any friends that weren't people i had met on Perfect World and World of Warcraft, the few friends i did have were either older than me and hadn't finished summer break or were a year behind me and weren't at the same school as me anymore. These kids were different than the usual upper class snobby children i had gotten used to so trying to find stuff i had in common with them was almost impossible which meant i still didn't really make any new friends.

After a while of keeping myself hidden away from everyone i decided to venture out into an area we referred to as the quad which was a large concrete area with some benches and tables around, I was the smallest person around so getting stepped on by these giant teenagers. I spent a while hanging around near them hoping they would notice me and invite me to join them but none of them really did but while i was around i heard a lot of them talking about YouTube and watching people playing games. From there is where I decided that if i wanted these kids to notice me and be my friend that i had to start doing some of the things they enjoyed but i wasn't a sporty kid so i couldn't do sports, i wasn't an amazingly talented musician so i couldn't do music stuff, but i did play a lot of games which meant i had 1 of things i needed to fit in.

I started watching a lot of YouTube videos, mainly by The Yogscast because i was in their WoW guild, i learned a lot about how to make videos and what sort of things people were finding funny and so i decided that since i had the equipment and hardware needed i would start my own channel and make videos of me playing games since i had all the new and popular games.

So that is where it all began, keep an eye here for the next part of the story.

So after deciding I was going to start a YouTube channel i knew i was going to need someone else to help out so we could bounce our jokes off each other rather than making jokes with no immediate response to tell us if we were even being funny. I got in contact with my best friend who I had spent years playing games with, there was quite a large distance between us because his family moved around a lot so we only got to socialise through games. We decided to call our channel The Creepers Anonymous because we were playing a lot of Minecraft and it was also meant to be a joke about things like Alcoholics Anonymous but it was for Creepers who wanted to stop exploding.

For a while we didn't really notice much happening and we basically just had the same people tuning in for every video who had been with us since the very start. We decided to bring some more people into the channel even though we were still small because it seemed like a good idea to give people a bit more variety so they didn't get bored of me and Kieron. We ended up bringing in a young Welsh boy called Mason who was a couple of years younger than us and a guy called Dylan who was American and a huge nerd. We started to notice that we were getting more and more popular with each new video we uploaded after bringing these 2 new members into the channel.

And then we made a breakthrough, we released a series on a Minecraft server called Desteria which turned out to be what made our viewer and subscriber count shoot up to the point where we were now getting sponsorship offers and offers to join networks. We decided to accept one of the offers and joined a network called TGN which meant we were now being paid to do what we were previously just doing for fun. We were living every teenagers dream, being paid to play games all day every day and we were all still in high school.

Come back next time for the story of how we got even bigger.

So we starting collaborating with a few of the other channels that were partnered with TGN and ended up becoming part of the TGN stream team where we would regularly play Pixelmon (Modded Minecraft) and a few other multiplayer games. It was at this time that I had started my music career and was writing and recording music for the other members of TGN with my band JiyuLevel99, we started doing a few gigs at local venues and got pretty well known in the area.

Flash forward 2 years and we got an offer from Maker Studios to sign a 3 year contract with them where we would have been making more money and would have more sponsors, we took some time to think about it and then ended up accepting the offer. Once we were signed to Maker Studios our videos started gaining popularity which allowed us to get more opportunities, like working with PewDiePie who was also fairly small at the time, aswell as sponsorship from Pepsi, EA and Ubisoft. For a year everything was fine and things seemed to be looking good for the 4 of us, but then Disney purchased Maker Studios for a large amount of money and started controlling everyone's content, so because we needed to be more family friendly we brought in Malaika, a wholesome Scottish girl who was an artist and gamer.

Come back soon to learn how it all came crashing down.

So everything was going alright for a while and we were getting paid a nice amount of money each which was allowing us to get new games and equipment for recording, our videos were getting hundreds of thousands of views and it seemed as though we would be set for life. Now as with all good things they must come to an end and that happened in 2017 when Maker Studios decided to release us from our contract along with a lot of other creators like PewDiePie for the reason of "We believe we have outgrown our previous model" what this means in business terms is "We believe we can make more money without you". Well they were wrong and now they don't exist. So we were now without any form of income meaning we were all about to become homeless which luckily for the rest of the channel ended up being prevented, where I on the other hand ended up without a roof over my head but it wasn't too bad because it allowed me to travel all over the place without having any responsibilities. The channel was now over as everyone had to find new work or go back into education and that was the end of that chapter in our lives.

Come back soon for the start of the Crimson Era

So after a few years travelling around and seeing all that the UK had to offer i eventually settled in a town called Bridgwater where I ended up going back to college to study Music Performance and Technology. During this time i started a brand new YouTube channel called CrimsonRoseYT which was linked to a small PC building and repair business i was running with a friend called CrimsonTech, we didn't just build or repair PCs though, we also made retro style RPGs which never got published because we never managed to get a good deal. The youtube channel itself never actually picked up though and only has about 3 or 4 videos on it. Eventually January 2019 came around and i ended up moving to Bristol after having met Alex and bunch of really awesome people who helped me to find a proper place to live, this is where i met 2 musicians who wanted to get into streaming, their names were Lexi and Mikey. We ended up starting a channel called Belief Gaming UK which had a fairly short lived existence due to disagreements between it's members. HERE IT IS, THE MOMENT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

The most active members who had been running the channel behind the scenes ended up splitting away and forming what is now known as Renegade Gaming and Renegade Industries, other than minor life things and moving house numerous times during the covid lockdown nothing much happened during the time leading up to now other than the formation of Renegade Industries which has been our attempt to bring modern features into the original metaverse that existed before all this NFT and cryptocurrency stuff started.

So from this point on this journal will no longer be talking about the past, it will be updated as and when things happen that are worth talking about.
