Yeah, the bg can get to be really time consuming. It's a fun way to pass the time though when trying to get it perfect. ^_^ Or at least how we like it to look, maybe not necessarily perfect.

No such thing as perfect, but that'd be pretty kewl if there was.

But basics can be so much better. Like that one in your sig looks like the blade of a sword which totally fits. Honestly with some things basic bg is better, like my Android 17 and 18 sig I still have never found a good pic to put behind them so it's just a black color filled bg with quotes from them on it. Sometimes basic just works.

Oh, and the sig pic I mean is in the spoiler if you don't know what I mean.
