Two Cons in 2 weekends. Leeds today at the Royal Armouries, and I went in Cosplay.
After persistent arguments from #2 son, I have been developing a costume based on Vesemir from The Witcher III in order to match with his portrayal as Eskil.
So how did I do?

I've just got the pauldrons to finish. Sort out some fingerless gloves, and clean my chain mail. #2 says I need a wig, but I'm not keen.
I'm thinking about shortening the Gambeson so the chain mail will show more, but I'm loath to ruin a perfectly good (and expensive) piece of "armour."

Well, it's been a funny old week.
The funeral of our young friend and training companion hung over us all week. The fact that it was so sudden, and he was taken from us so young, has been very sobering. Handling raw emotion is never easy, and times like this are especially difficult. The Chapel was packed to capacity, as his short life had intersected with many, many people, and most of us were crying openly when his young cousin asked him to "come back soon."
But life moves on, and even I must look to the future.

I'm no stranger to funerals, but I probably cried more at this one than any others I have been to. #2 is struggling with all the emotions as well.
Slowly returning to normal.

Well, I don't want to go through that again.
Yesterday was the "Moderators Introduction to Hell" experience. Steady stream of spam registrations starting at about 10.00 and lasting all day, and on through the night, at a rate of about 15/20 per hour. The longest interval was about 12 minutes, and most of the time it was 1 every 2/3 minutes. I was exhausted when I logged off at midnight. I think I must have dealt with around 220 spam accounts.

Took my Vesemir cosplay out for a solo run yesterday, and had a good time. A couple of people actually knew who I was supposed to be and asked for pictures, which is always nice.

Thanks to a remark made elsewhere, I'm reminded of my Jedi Cosplay. I might take that out for a run to the next Con I have. I should also put some effort into finishing my Medieval Knight Costume.
Been fighting off a flu bug since the middle of last week. #2 was ill Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. My wife was ill Thursday to Sunday. I'm OK so far, but deathly tired and I ache everywhere so the clock is probably ticking.

I have no intentions of passing on just yet.
I went training last night despite feeling awful. There is a grading coming up, and I am working with the lower grades to sharpen up their techniques. When I got there, my instructor graced me with the information that I will also be grading starting next week, and that it will extend over 4 sessions as he assesses me for my 2nd Dan AND Instructor status. Talk about a bolt out of the blue!
Now, I must get well or this will be a disaster.
