Scarred Earth [Jas vs. Norwaven, Closed]

Post by Jas » 24 May 2020, 14:14

OOC: first post will set the scene, and I'll give my character sheet as well. Just sometime before or during your first post go ahead and throw up a character sheet, as well. Doesn't have to be any more complicated than mine.

Remember, we're not scoring and this is just for fun. Try to keep at 100-200 words.

Because I'm familiar already I'm gonna dust off a momentum character concept.

NAME: Zane Lightfoot
RACE: Human/Lightning Elemental
AGE: 16
GEAR:
Outside of his clothing (a school uniform), Zane carries nothing of merit. However, as part of his abilities, he may manifest the following:
Aura Blade: A beam of energy which extends from his clenched fist. Given his elemental nature, the more his composure breaks, the more it resembles electricity.

APPEARANCE:
Zane appears to be an average young man, perhaps a bit short and slight for his age. His blonde hair constantly stands on end, despite all attempts to tame it, and over the years he has given up and now simply cuts it such that it looks alright spiked. His skin is extremely fair, and his brilliant blue eyes almost glow when he gets excited.

PERSONALITY:
Zane's nature has always been to be wild and untempered. However, his grandfather has raised him from a young age, and has been very strict about teaching Zane restraint. So most of the time he will seem even tempered, but the facade can drop on a dime.

HISTORY:
Zane was a normal human baby. However, in utero, a lightning elemental can into contact with his mother. The boy's soul latched onto the elemental, and the elemental fused into him as he continued to develop.

As a kid, Zane always got into trouble from his hasty attitude and preturnatural ability to find it. However, one day he was followed home by a supernatural hunter: a human which tracks and dispatches monsters and other such profanities. After he and his family went to bed, the hunter crept in and attempted to kill Zane in his sleep.

Zane's elemental nature instinctively reacted even while the boy slept. He evaporated into electricity and entered the hunter's body, killing him instantly. The sudden electrical charge, however, released a ball of plasma which consumed his home and family.

Zane has no memory of that day, but as a result was taken in and raised by his grandfather. After some time, he discovered his grandson's nature and began training him to control it.

ABILITIES:
MAJOR:
Elemental Form: Right now this is only activated by instinct and cannot be controlled.
Plasma Wave: Ripping the electrons forcibly from the air molecules surrounding him, Zane simultaneously builds electrical potential and makes a bubble of plasma around him. The built up energy is then used to push out the field in a wave.
Posession: In his elemental form, Zane is little more than energy bound to a soul. As such, he can inhabit other creatures, though creatures with a soul can rebuke his attempt. Unfortunately the host creatures typically die of electric shock, but the same electricity can be used to keep the bodies animated for some time even postmortem.

MINOR:
Aura blade: (see gear)
Ki blast: Though fundamentally a human nonelemental technique, since Zane's Ki is tied to electricity, these come with a bit of a shock. Rapid, quick blasts or slower, more powerful strikes are possible through concentration. Like aura blade, the blasts more and more resemble lightning bolts as his composure slips.
Traps: Zane can build up fields of electrical potential in the ground to make traps. Upon stepping into one, the victim is zapped with a powerful electric shock. Takes some time and concentration to set up though.
Martial Arts (Judo, Karate): While far from a master in either discipline, Zane excels in hand to hand combat. His grandfather's discipline training included training in both judo and karate.
Speed: While not a power per se, Zane is small, light and powerful. As a result his opponents often find him unsettlingly quick.

OOC: that character sheet turned out longer than I planned sorry. Yours can be more brief if you want.

IC:

There's nothing here!

Zane arrived at the coordinates his grandfather had given him. "What should I do there?" Zane had asked.

"Oh you'll know it when you see it!" Gramps had responded, cryptically as always.

Back in the present day, Zane's eyes scanned the horizon. There were craters and burns carved into the hills around him, but nothing that appeared to be noteworthy. Nothing rose up above the scarred landscape to break the view: no trees or structures as far as Zane could see.

Plenty of hidey-holes, he supposed, since some of the deeper gashes in the ground were big enough to provide full cover to Zane.

Zane forced a smile, which bred a real one, and then stretched.

"I came all this way, so I may as well give it a chance before I go back." And so Zane waited, scanning the environment for anything to happen.

Controller
NAME: Keith Hugh Ericson
AGE: 42
Occupation: Data Entry
Hobbies: Gamer, PC’s for Life
Personality: Devoid, unsatisfied, feels life is just a cruel joke. He loves the most difficult games, the impossible ones, because real life has no challenge nor does his job. He just repeatedly enter data into fields from stacks of paper that already has the same information.
Abilities: Control real people, seen as god (He is unaware of this ability though)
Character
NAME: Zya
RACE: Elf Half Demon
AGE: 17 (appearance)
GEAR:
A Demonic Great Sword of Dark Power

APPEARANCE:
Zya was small, the size of a child still, and thin, not well fed, not that she didn't have the opportunity she didn't want to feed her body well, but she also hated pain so she fed her worthless body to avoid that. How troublesome. As a result, her features were pale and unhealthy-looking despite being an elf. She had the angular features of one and the appearance of a young youth. What defied it was her demon nature, her body while small spoke of a hard-enduring life of training only a masochist would perform. She was skin bones, but her muscles were real, and no one could hide that fact. Outside of the odd strong build she had no physical traits of a demon at all, except for her blood. Not that others could see it until she bleeds.

Zya has raven black hair to her shoulders and dark green eyes. She wields a sinister looking great sword which she carries on her back, and sports light armor.

PERSONALITY:
The distant type, she always appears to be down. She talks about death if pressed. Her eyes appear to be lifeless most of the time. While she does speak, it is not often. Zya hates pain with a passion but others genuinely believe she gets pleasure out of it, but this false conclusion most come to by watching her behavior.

HISTORY:
Zya had a cursed birth, the others did not realize because she looked just like other elves did. They simply believe her mother died from complications. The truth was Zya had ate her way out of her mother wound. Zya remembers it to this day and it sickens her, it is the core source of her nightmares, which even plague her when she is awake. There are many other causes of her nightmares too.
Soon it was discovered by the other elves that she was indeed part demon and Zya was still quite young. Zya could not control her inner demon and she went on a rampage and killed many elves that were kind to her. Zya’s pain was horrible, it was pure torture to have no control over her body as she lusted for their elves’ flesh.
That torture came to an end, the elves gutted her, sliced her throat, and she drowned in her own blood. It had been incredibly painful for Zya. Even though she could not move the pain was intense, when was she going to die? She pleaded for it to end soon. They burned her in pyre of fire which is where the left over. The pain was much, much worst as if that were possible, well it was.
Eventually the fire burned out, why hadn’t it killed her? She felt her flesh growing back on her bones, even that was painful but was it growing back? She should be dead. However, within a day, she was flesh again, just naked. It was embarrassing and the pain had not gone away, no she had hunger pains, her stomach was empty with acids trying to eat it. However, her stomach was just stubborn as her body and kept healing itself. So, the pain never stopped.
In agony she searched for food. She found berries; she knew they were edible except they were not. She immediately puked; her body had rejected them. It was horrible because the acid burned as it came out. She was sure her teeth and lips partially melted because they were on fire. She was right her mouth had melted down to her jawbone, but it healed too. She eventually realized she only had cravings for flesh, living flesh. However, she discovered the rat she had grabbed and gobbled down satisfied her hunger. It was terrible tasting though. It was the most disgusting thing she had ever eaten. But it was only thing that helped. So she ate more of the disgusting terrible food, so her agony of hunger would subside.

For awhile this was how she lived, preying on live animals, eventually on humanoids as she was living by her cravings and oddly her body found the flesh of humans, elves, and dwarves more satisfying. However, this was a torture life, and she eventually gained enough self-control to stop eating and endure the pain in hopes she would die of starvation. It did not work; it was just pure agony for months. Then she lost control again her body went berserk, and she had no control over it. It tortured her further as it sought sustenance and took the lives of innocents.
Zya did no such foolish thing again, her she tried not to, but it always happened again. She tried to only eat her enemies those deserving but even this disgusted and tormented her. However, she noticed she was getting stronger and stronger as a result. She wanted death though, her life and soul were so tortured it was not a life at all, she just wanted and pleaded for mercy.
One day god answered Zya, but he did not give her the death she pleaded to have. However, he did do something that lessened her misery and to her that was a true blessing, so she gave her all on to him. She stopped her body from going berserk untreatably, he would control it and he would use her body for good despite its craving.
Zya had since then been in many battles and had many death experiences. She could do without all the pain she hated pain, but she endured it for him, her god. Damn him for demanding for her to suffer so. However, her nightmares had lessened she was not afraid what her body would do any longer, she had faith in god.

ABILITIES:
MAJOR:
Boiling Demon Blood: This is both a cursed and a power. Zya’s blood is always hot and it is a pain she has learned to ignore as this pain never goes away. The agony it causes her does increase though. As her blood burns hotter the stronger and faster she gets, her reflexes increase as well. However, she is taking damage when her blood burns hotter.
Immortal: Zya stopped aging when she physically 17. Her immortality sucks in her opinion. No matter the wound or suffering she receives, her body will eventually recover. Nothing grows back instantly, instead it takes time and the pain of re-growing such limbs, including her head is pure agony. So, she tries not to get hurt so terribly that she is going to suffer for it. She’s been in fact buried a few times as diseases will practically kill her too. In the end even they lose out to her body’s ability to regenerate itself.
Demon Blade: Her demon blade allows her to summon dark monsters, demons by nature. They answer her call or her gods obediently as his plan is against their very natures. He has forced them on countless times to save what they consider to be food. Zya’s Demon blood allows to use this weapon even though it is pure evil.
The weapon can be used to create dark corrosive blasts as well. These blasts can have a great range too, but Zya does not like using this ability of the blade. The sight of how it melts what it targets, sickens her and it only works on living things. So, its use is not always practical.

Blessed: Zya in her belief has been blessed by God. She hears him, he controls her, he sees things she cannot. She keeps her from going berserk those dark days at least or in her past. She is devoted to him, she will not fight his will to control her, he only controls her for good, to be a hero to be a savior. If she can prevent others from suffering as she does than it is enough, it is worth the pain she hates.
Her god knows her battlefields as if can see them, so he always a destiny in mind for her he even speaks to her and sometimes about her. He also sees when enemies approach her even her blind spots. He has so much battle experience she knows what her strengths and her weaknesses are, and he uses her body mercilessly to accomplish his goals. Which is apparently to gain trophies. She has no idea what these trophies are, she had never seen them, but he has claimed she earned him some. She has praise for her which this greatly pleases Zya, but she does not believe she is deserving. She knows her life is a curse and tortured one, but at least with him as his devotee I can do some good for others.

Martial art in soft and hard styles
Weapon Mastery with a Great Sword

God was quiet. When God was quiet it was up to Zya to fend for herself.

The Elf had taken a quest for money. The objectives were simple: Subdue your opponent, he'll arrive later. Make it a good fight. Don't kill the boy. That was it. It was a pain in the ass, but God would be upset with her if she didn't earn money doing quests while he was gone like he had order her to. Unfortunately, the quest's details were cryptic, so she had little to go on, however, a young girl was required for it. Such a strange request.

For a couple days the half demon had waited, eating the live mice she had brought with for nourishment. Then the young warrior heard someone arrive. Well that must be the boy, she hoped. Ah, what a pain, I mean quite literally this is going to hurt, a lot. She shuddered at the thought, and still no God.

God always made her stronger.

Zya readied herself by heating up her Demon blood as she came out, it caused her pain, but not much, not yet. She spotted a human male, surely, he spotted her.

The small girl heaved her Great Sword up and dashed forward with a thrust attack. As she wasn't using much of her blood her speed wasn't superhuman just almost. The keen warrior watched the blue-eyed boy to see what he'd do. After all her attack was only a prompt to get the blonde male to act.

The boy was still looking around, examining the horizon, when he heard the footsteps.

Fast! Zane thought to himself, not allowing himself time to finish the thought. He turned his head first, to better assess the threat. As he did so, he finished bringing his body around.

Time seemed to slow down as the elemental's adrenaline ramped up. It was a girl. At a glance, she didn't look much older than him, but her elven features betrayed that she likely was. There was something off about her, though. He couldn't see it as much as feel it, but Zane suspected this elf was more than she seemed.

While the girl was moving quite fast, Zane reckoned he was still a good bit faster. In fact, if he hadn't been caught unawares, he probably could have made a much better counterattack. And if he had been human, he probably would have just been skewered.

Since he was surprised, though, his counterattack was both the best he could squeeze into the short time he had to act and the best he could come up with in the shorter time he had to think.

The elf-girl's huge blade was leveled at him, to run him through. While the strike was clearly strong, he didn't actually sense any killing intent behind it. Since this elf was likely very experienced and charging in at the beginning was a rookie move, he figured this was probably a test.

Better not disappoint!

Zane opened his right hand and focused his ki into it as he leaned to the right, allowing his right foot to take a half-step to the outside. If that was his only maneuver, he would have caught the sword through his kidney instead of through his intestines, but that was only part one of two of his evasive tactics. Using the hand he'd just primed, Zane fired a ki blast as he drove his hand into the flat of the blade. The point-blank energy projectile carried a small concussive force to help deflect the blade, as well as to protect his hand. Since he was still generally disciplined at the moment, it bore only a slight electric shock.

His evasion complete, Zane had very little time to counterattack. Shifting his weight onto his right foot, he brought his left knee up, intending to use his opponent's momentum to his advantage, since his physical strength, while greater than the average human, was not particularly high.

The boy's plan was to catch her in the gut with his knee, which would catch her momentum and start a rotation which he would take advantage of by planting his left foot back on the ground, while using his newfound rotation to aid him in a right-footed kick.

God was Silent.

The male started his move. A right-hand Kai charge and step. Zya loosened her left-hand grip while tilting her upper blade to the right in preparation for her defense.

The blonde was fast, moving faster than her, it meant that she would need more speed. A burst a speed, no more, maintain. Pain jolted through the elf’s body while it showed in her eyes it did not in her face. Zya had grown accustomed to such pain, she still loathed it though. A red mist perforated the air for a moment from the demon’s skin.

Zya pivoted her body and vaulted herself forward to face the the young warrior. He was taller than her normally but now she was looking down on him as he hit her blade with an impressive impact. The elf was ready for it as she had moved her feet up onto the blade to take the brunt. She felt a slight electric shock purge her system but compared to her boiling blood it was insignificant.

The kinetic energy forced her back 6 meters, what an impressive hit, though the elf and her blade were not heavy. She used the opportunity to twist in the air and sink her blade into the ground with some force as the earth cracked ever so lightly around her feet. The demon was able to force chunks of earth to gain velocity from the momentum of pure force used to scrap them out of the desolated earth.

The improvised missiles flew toward her assailants left flank spiraling half haphazardly with little kinetic energy. As if such an attack would be intended deadly, it could even be considered amateurish as such a move would only damage your weapon successfully and maybe confuse your opponent. Zya, however, tried to damage her blade when she could, but it was resilient and approved of such audacious dashing maneuvers. However, it was not her real attack at all, it was in truth a diversion.

The small petite demon once again burned some of her blood, this time a good amount more, still not much. But it gave her incredible strength and speed in a short burst, and it hurt. Essentially, she was giving her insides 2nd degree burns by invoking her blood. It was enough to bring tears to hers, otherwise her mood was docile. It was one strong reason why she disliked fighting, it was all about pain and enduring it.

Now that’s Zya’s speed was significantly increased she out sped the velocity of her throw rocks first going to her opponents far right and going in with flank with a downward slash with her great blade. Though, she turned the flat toward him in case the boy did not evade. Her client did not want her to kill so a bashing would be okay.

Malice.

Again the boy marveled at the elf's features. That feeling of off-ness, despite her standard countenance. The pain in her eyes with each increasingly-powerful and seemingly random move. There was pain, and malice. Not insofar as she was trying to kill him; in fact, Zane was fairly certain she was trying not to. No, something was malicious about her being.

Her existence is tainted. That thought resonated with him for a moment. She'd had a rough life (and likely a longer one), but on some level they were the same. I am tainted. But such introspective thoughts were dangerous mid-combat. He refocused.

His kick landed solidly, which honestly surprised Zane. The elf's darkness surged after the volley of earth sent Zane's way, as she sped toward him.

Two attacks. Dodge the stones and take the strike. Dodge the strike and hit the stones.

"Damnit!" Zane grumbled, focusing ki into his left hand. Instead of a blast, however, a beam materialized from his fist, about half a meter long. A gentle crackling of electricity sparked around it, more for show than anything at this point.

He knew he'd have to take a couple of rocks into his side for this maneuver, but he figured he could take the hit. There was no opportunity for a counter unless he moved in on the elf.

Noticing too late that the elf was now much faster (maybe even faster than he was), Zane started to step toward her, bringing his short sword up to deflect her massive blade. At the point her weapon made contact with his, he unfortunately realized that her strength was boosted as well. He only just managed to succeed in stopping the blade's flat from cracking his skull. The force of the strike traveled through his body, bending his knees to the ground.

Knowing he was physically outmatched at this point, Zane put all his might into moving the blade to one side while he moved his body to the other. The strike (and rocks) had taken its toll and he was a bit sluggish as he rolled away and flipped back to his feet.

He panted at his opponent for a moment, adrenaline surging into his veins. A faint smell of ozone crackled about him as his elemental nature bubbled to the surface. His sword crackled heavily now with electricity. The elf probably wouldn't have felt the shock before, but a hit with this would probably pack a wallop now.

With a glint in his blue eyes, Zane regarded his foe. She was not one to underestimate; he'd not make that mistake again. And maybe distance was better.

Zane raised his right hand, palm forward, and began to fire bolts like the one he used earlier to deflect the first rush, but these moved a little more like electrical arcs than the last one (and probably felt a bit more like them as well). He let out a dozen rapid blasts just to see how she'd react.
