and I feel like Alice, staring down that rabbit hole,
should I walk through it, can I return?
Should I close it, will I never leave here?
For here is a place of known boredom,
a place of dusty corridors and condescending stares
the familiar sort of slow, agonizing decay of spirit and soul
that tells me that there is still something left in me to die out
and thus I cannot yet be dead.

And out there, is the unknown,
      such a heavy, loaded uncertainty
      exciting, no doubt,
      worrysome, of course,
frightening? …more than I want to admit.

      And so, I keep watching
      and the door keeps swinging
and the early morning sunshine that seeps on through
      slowly turns into dusk

Ahh... such decision, much angst. >.<

I like both (though I must say, both doors in question I think need looking at, since they both seem to be constantly swinging, and not staying closed xP)

Rukia's entry - short and sweet, sticking close to the theme for the challenge, good rhythm.

Noirre's entry - (obviously) longer, nice imagery. But I think the story and imagery trails away from the theme a bit. But that could just be because of comparing it with the shorter entry.

      choices choices.

Gonna have to go with Rukia, simply as it sticks to the theme closer. Sorry Noirre, your piece was still great though

Re: [VOTE NOW] poetry battle between Noirre and Rukia

I enjoyed both poems. They're approaching the theme from completely different directions, completely different styles.
Rukia - I like the rhythm, it fits well, sharp and sudden, short and neat. Fits perfectly, and is very definitive, no ambiguity.
Noirre - the decision, or indecision, to step forwards or not, go onwards or back, is a strong theme, worked well.

Taking both together, there isn't an easy way to compare them. There isn't a 'better' one, in my view. I was trying to think of some way to criticize (constructively) one of them, to find a preferred that way, but I couldn't think of one at the minute. I went for Noirre's, because it made me remember. That's all. Not a good reason, but a reason.
It doesn't matter how undignified the means, if you get the results, and don't compromise on your morals.

      Two great poems, definitely.

Rukia - very short and on topic, yes. Good flow. I noticed inconsistent capitalization, but just a minor quibble. "Wood or Metal" pulled me out slightly - seemed like you were wavering on your focus.

Noirre - I like that whole gateway and hope thing, of opportunities passed. Wonderful visualizations.

      My vote goes to Noirre.

Re: [VOTE NOW] poetry battle between Noirre and Rukia

rukia - its hsort but its strong altough it maybe lacked a bit of emotion

noire - maybe a bit to long but the theme of allice and the door realy connected good and i just loved it. the last part puted it me a bit off just because the very first part of the poem was so great!

Well okay, Rukia fits the theme to a t, yes. In all honesty that isn't what matters when it comes to poetry in my mind though, especially when it comes to battling it out with a fellow. Noirre lets flow the emotion, the thoughts up top. Building a story around the door instead of just saying "doors". That is why I picked Noirre.
