      Dororo

I've watched the first episode and the art is great! The plot has just started but it's interesting already. It seems to be a horror anime set in the Sengoku period of Japanese history.

This anime is based on a manga from 1967–1968 by Osamu Tezuka (I assume you know this name). There was an earlier anime adaptation in 1969.

      From MAL:

A samurai lord has bartered away his newborn son's organs to forty-eight demons in exchange for dominance on the battlefield. Yet, the abandoned infant survives thanks to a medicine man who equips him with primitive prosthetics—lethal ones with which the wronged son will use to hunt down the multitude of demons to reclaim his body one piece at a time, before confronting his father. On his journeys the young hero encounters an orphan who claims to be the greatest thief in Japan.

Some interesting info about the original manga: http://tezukainenglish.com/wp/?page_id=619 WARNING! THERE ARE SOME MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS ARTICLE.

      TL;DR nonspoiler excerpts:

Set during the warring-states period of Japan, Dororo (1967-69) is Tezuka’s contribution to the yōkai genre of storytelling – and is more or less a direct response to the sudden burst of popularity the genre received by the works of Shigeru Mizuki in the mid-1960’s.

In Dororo (1967-69), Tezuka combines supernatural monster designs, influenced by traditional Japanese prints and theatre, with much more mature and detailed natural background scenes than appear in most of his earlier work. Through his creative use of Japanese folklore and ghost stories it has become a major work in Tezuka’s corpus – setting the standard for many of the samurai adventure stories that followed it.
Shigeru Mizuki is the author of GeGeGe no Kitarou.

Although the bright child thief Dororo was originally intended to be the star of the manga, the dark, vengeful anti-hero Hyakkimaru proved even more popular. It was this display of his fans’ willingness to accept adults as the stars of their manga instead of the traditional boy heroes that opened the door for Tezuka’s more mature later works.
Finally, according to Tezuka himself, he got the title for Dororo (1967-69) from a child (exactly which one is up for debate – either one of his or one of his friend’s) mispronouncing the Japanese word for “thief/robber”, dorobou <どろぼう>.

      Re: Dororo

It seems we've got a lot of remakes of some famous older stuff recently. The ones I can name from the top of my head are (besides Dorororo) GeGeGe no Kitarou and Osomatsu-kun.

Hmm he could have let her hold the baby at least. I wonder what he did with it.

      This is a great op.

        Spoiler:
So every time he kills one of the demons he gets one of his parts back

I kinda like the choice of voice actor (actress?) for Dororo.

      Re: Dororo

So far it actually seems amazing! (I don't really read manga, never really got into it I even struggled with comics I just preferred blocks of text) But yeah I wasn't expecting what @Momogari said in the spoiler (idk how to make the spoiler things) but it actually seems quite cool because he's also more vulnerable isn't he?
