A warm summer breeze filled the air while Marian and Roselia tended to the garden next to their house. "Phew... we're done." Marian expressed a sigh of relief upon finishing planting the new crops in the garden with the help of Roselia. With that she turned to Roselia and said, "come on Roselia, let's go relax in the hosue for a bit." Roselia chirped happily while tailing behind Marian.
Marian and Roselia made their way inside and plopped themselves on the couch. Picking up the remote Marian started flipping through channels. "Not weather.... sports... ah, here we go!" It was the Pokemon Trainer News Channel.
"...Thank you Steven for your expert knowledge on rocks... now moving onto our main segment. Here is Professor Rowan who will be giving his speech regarding the upcoming batch of trainers ready to finish their education and make their way out in the world to become full fledged Pokemon Trainers."
"Thank you Betsy" A cold and deep voice rang through the speakers of the TV. "Several years ago, we were still sending out 10 year old kids to go exploring, but upon experimenting, we realized that an elementary school education no longer cut it anymore due to Pokemon Trainers all over being taken advantage of. That's why for the past couple years no new Pokemon Licenses have been issued, and a new batch of trainers with a middle school education are going to embark on their journeys. This will truly be a new age of trainers who might even shake the foundation of Pokemon battling as we know it today. and maybe even writing decent pokedex entries, Alakazam's IQ is not 5000...
"Um... professor..." Betsy piped up being that everyone could all clearly hear the professor's last remarks. Taking the mic back from Rowan as he walks off stage there was a loud applause which lasted for a few minutes.
Marian turned off the TV at that point. Turning to Roselia, "I hope we can live up to the professor's expectations, right Roselia?" Roslia nodded it's head and chipped. "Alright then, let's go over near the ruins and train a bit. And with that Marian ran outside to go train, not realizing that this would be the last time in her warm and cozy house for quite some time.
Flora shuddered in anticipation when she stepped out of her Grandma Wilma's house on Route 210 along with the Starly she borrowed from her mother. Route 210 is normally covered in impenetrable fog and nearly impossible to navigate. Flora had made the trip to her Grandma Wilma's house many times before but this is the first time she's gone alone.
"Starly, use defog," Flora timidly shouts as she approaches the dense fog. Starly flaps its wings and the fog immediately disperses. Flora nervously steps onto the long, creaky bridge to begin her journey home when she trips and falls into the cold water below. The drop is not far so she is unharmed and is able to climb upon a nearby bank. When she gets up she comes face to face with a Geodude who looks angry.
“Go Starly!” Flora cried out afraid of what might happen. "Use Gust!" Just then Starly started flapping its wings creating a small tornado that hurled towards the wild Geodude. Wasting no time, Geodude rolled out of the way, and retaliated by throwing rocks that created a tomb around Starly. "Starly!" Flora cried out, but with no response in turn. Geodude then aimed its next rock right at Flora (which she knew she would blackout and miraculously appear in Celestic Town’s Pokémon Center). At that moment, a loner Turtwig whipped its vines around Geodude who fainted upon impact. "Star!" A voice cried out under the rubble which seemed to be revived from Turtwigs Aromatherapy. Bending down, “Thank you Turtwig, you saved us.” Flora said while rubbing its head. “Twig,” Turtwig replies with a confident nod. As Flora turns to leave, Turtwig follows her. “Twiiiig,” Turtwig says as it grabs a hold of Flora’s shoe. “You want to come with me?” Flora inquires. “Twiiiiiig,” Turtwig replies enthusiastically.
“Come on Turtwig, today’s the day that cousin Cyrus is coming today to research the Ruins in the center of town!” “Twiiiiig!!” Turtwig cries out as it hurriedly jumps out of its bed in Flora’s room. When they reach the Ruins, they discover Cyrus is already there and about to enter. “Hey Cyrus!” Flora calls out joyfully. “Hello Flora,” Cyrus replies. “These Ruins are fascinating. Could you show me around?” “Sure!” Flora replies. As Flora shows cousin Cyrus the Ruins, she has no idea what is about to unfold today that will change her life forever.
Marian and Roselia took their time getting to the ruins in the middle of town. Stopping by a few different herb shops just to get a whiff of the smell. "Mmmm... it's always nice coming here, right Roselia?" Marian smiled. Roselia spun around and chipped happily taking in the fragrance. Eventually, they made their way to the middle of town where the cave awaited them. Engravings of Dialga and Palkia stood on both sides of the entrance, while a third faded engraving on top. The third engraving always fascinated Marian, and she would always take a glance at it, even unknowingly when she was around. Seeing that engraving gave her a chill down her spine every time though. So, trying to get the thought off her mind, Marian turned around to her partner "Shall we go in then?" she asked while putting on the best smile that she could, which was followed by a joyful chirp as the two of them slowly walked into the dark cave.
"And over here you can see the highlight of the Ruins, a mural that the Ancients painted depicting Uxie, Azlef and Mesprit surrounding an orb," Flora explains to Cyrus enthusiastically. "It's rumored that the orb is the Griseous Orb however, other than some cryptic text, nobody knows what the Griseous Orb is, let alone why the Guardians of the Lake are surrounding it. It's what makes Celestic Town a tourist hotspot." "Mind if I take a closer look at the mural?" Cyrus inquired curiously. "Sure Cyrus but you're not allowed to touch the mural. Elder's orders!" Flora replies.
Cyrus walks up to the mural and examines it closely. "Hmmm...I wonder," Cyrus mumbles under his breath as he ignores Flora's warning and touches the orb in the center of the mural. Suddenly the Ruins shake violently as if an Earthquake was set off. "I toooold youuuu nooooot toooo toooooouch iiiiiit" Flora hollers as she loses her balance amidst the shaking and is thrown against the wall of the Ruins. "Never mind that, look at what appeared in the center of the Ruins!" Cyrus exclaimed after he regained his composure after the Earthquake stopped.
*drip* *drip* The sound of water from the cave ceiling eerily echoed through the halls. "H-haha.... we're not s-scared, right r-rosella?" Marian said with a strained face, which was only replied with the usual joyful chirp. Marian sighed. Figured Pokemon would be more resilient to places like this she thought. As they were walking further into the cave, the earthquake hit. "R-ROSELIA?!?" Marian cried out. Instinctively, Marian shielded Roselia with her own body from any falling rocks. Time passed, but the only thing that continued to echo through the eerie halls was a continuous woeful chirp.
Slightly woozy from the impact she had with the wall of the Ruins, Flora slowly regains her composure and is able to stand when she hears: "Flora, come and take a look at this!" Upon scanning her surroundings, Flora realizes that Cyrus is standing next to a rather large hole in the center of the Ruins. Cyrus motions to Flora to come closer and upon closer inspection of the hole, Flora realizes that there is actually some stairs carved out of stone leading down into the pit.
"Let's see what's down there!" Cyrus exclaims as he hurries down the stairs.
Flora follows Cyrus down into the pit and as they reach the bottom, they both gasp. There is a rather large underground area under Celestic Town. Cyrus notices a rather ancient looking table at the center of the cavern and when he takes a step forward, the ground he steps on collapses under his weight. He is just quick enough to avoid falling into the pitfall.
"That was close. Flora, be careful, there appears to be traps down here!"
"I'll be careful Cyrus!" Flora replies rather nervously as she avoids a pitfall trap just like the one that almost caught Cyrus.
After several close calls, Flora and Cyrus are able to find a safe route to the table. Once they reach the table, Flora notices a rather odd looking plate on the table. She picks it up and realizes it has an engraving on it.
"It says: 'Two beings of Time and Space set free from the Original One.' What do you think it means Cyrus?" Flora inquires.
