PostPosted: 29 Mar 7:23 pm Post subject: Core Values and Goals for Animeleague - Take a look!

This is the direction I believe we should all be travelling in. I would appreciate it if people could read and give feedback on all of this, thanks. :)

Our Core Values

1. We are a friendly, respectful & positive community for friendships - At it's very heart an anime community is not about it's discussion, it's fandom knowledge, or it's gimmicks or it's features; it is about making friendships and having a good time together as fellow fans - casual or hardcore.
2. We are all anime fans, no one is superior; we are all equal - Status should not be based on post-counts, joined dates or staff status. Every member deserves the basic respect that any human-being should have, and we should be tolerant of differing views and opinions.
3. We are the anime grassroots and will fight for the fans - We stand against special-interests, cliques and groups that can distort and hold back the anime community inside and outside of Animeleague. We should show everyone out there a better way and be the voice of the fans and grassroots.
4. We will move the anime fandom forward and revolutionise it - We are forward looking and focused on pushing and progressing anime and manga across the world.
5. We are stronger together than apart - We will work with like-minded groups and companies to help further our beliefs and goals. We can not do what we want to do alone, but by working together it starts to become possible. This belief also applies to Animeleague; we are all ALers and should remain together as one community.

Our Immediate Goals for 2009

1. To become the UK's #1 community for anime - We are already very close to this, and should happen with a bit more of a push.
2. To expand our presence in all other countries world-wide and become more well known in the online anime world - Animeleague is still ranked only 23rd on google. We want to be on the first page whenever anyone types in "anime". To achieve this we need to become better known and more influential.
3. To move beyond just Alcon as our main event - As well as further expanding our meet-ups, we shall be looking into running proper events in both the UK and (to a lesser extent) the US.
4. To help set up project Team Dimension - In partnership with Dimensional Entertainment, we shall be launching Team Dimension. This will be a project aimed at training and encouraging more manga to be created in the Western-World (mainly the US and UK to begin with).
5. To buddy up with more affiliates and partners - We have done excellent work lately on getting this, but more work shall be done. We want to have at least two more partners, and 3 or 4 new affiliates before the year is out.
6. To maintain Animeleague's positive and friendly atmosphere and make it easier for newcomers and older members to get involved alike - We will be working on trying to better unite and unify the community to help achieve this. It is still too fragmented.
7. To get sufficient sponsorship from companies to be able to regularly offer prizes for contests, events and tournaments - We already have Dimensional Entertainment on board as Animeleague's main sponsor. We aim to get a couple more sponsorship deals, and already have one other in the pipeline.
8. To push activity past 1000 active members (Defined as posting once in the past seven days). - You can check the statistics for this. We hope that achieving all the other goals should help toward this. However, we do need your help in advertising for this.
9. To expand our media efforts - We shall be expanding AL Radio, partnering it up (Hopefully) with AnimeAmaze and perhaps other online anime radio stations. We shall also be exploring the possibility of some kind of regular fanzine or magazine for AL.
10. To improve the forums and add new features such as a proper shop - We will be adding new banners, improving our graphics for our themes, adding new themes, and looking into adding a proper shop system similar to Gaia's.

There's nothing you've posted that I don't completely support. The values are golden and as as for the goals I say we go for them all!

Despite saying that we are all anime fans, carry on Seabiscuit.

Some good goals for the '09 year. And you know that of course I will happily try and help with the US side of things in whatever way I can...

Can a possible goal be getting a tech discussion forum? I've seen alot of forums that aren't really tech based have them and it would bring another part of the community together. I could lead the forum as well as anyone else interested.

I support this 100%.

Disagree. As Leper pointed out, not everybody here is an anime fan. I have a mild dislike of anime (only a specific few catch my attention). Otherwise I support this.

You do mean in an area larger than the UK, yes? Support granted.

Support, though with the manga part. I would promote anime- just not as greatly as I do manga. PS: I fixed the spelling of revolutionize. Nitpicky about that stuff. D:
::EDIT::
Since Matt (Fizz) won't get off my back. I fixed it to the American way of spelling it. >_______>'

Hoo rah!

Here you are with the specifics in the UK. You can't just base your entire effort on the UK. The United States covers a lot of areas on AL as well.

If only they didn't detect IP-address. I would spam it with clicks from myself. :hm:

Lesser extent? AX is a MASSIVE part of the United States expo community. Get in contact and try to get promoted on their site, then tell me about lesser extents. :\

Oh, look. I see US. I agree whole-heartedly with this. Probably because I'm more biased to manga than anime. :hm:

More US partners, perhaps? -points to the AX suggestion-

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees. I agree. Unify me up, baby!

Again. Fully agree. Love this idea, personally.

I should show you the graffetti I did that advertises for AL. :hm: I just don't think I can advertise anymore where I live. Everybody's wanting to kill me because I annoy them about it.

Great idea. Just make sure Toni is on. She makes me giggle... A lot. >__________>'

You don't know how happy that made me. I've been waiting for a proper shop for AGES. GO GO GO! <3

It's brilliant to see this, reminding people of the core beliefs that AnimeLeague is built upon and clear targets for the next year or so. It's especially important to remember this things as AnimeLeague begins to expand even further.

As for the UK/US situation, I'm behind what Mike says. Although it can seem biased towards the UK, I think the scale of the task that faces us with the US scene means that having a strong UK presence that we can then translate into expanding the US presence is just as important as working purely on the US scene.

Of course, what we REALLY need is an American Freesaiyan ;)

Trust me, organization is but the tip of the iceberg to chip away at here in the US...><...
OF course, if one knows any willing and able bodied US AL'ers who want to actually try and create a similar more branch styled structure here in the US, then feel free to come and talk to me...

As for a American Freesaiyan... I'm probably the closest thing the poor US side has ...mind you I'm the opposite gender...:P , but that doesn't mean much as far as I see...
Coupled with the fact I have operated other forums before, I can understand and imagine quite a bit of what our poor man in charge deals with all the time...
