I humbly apologise but what the hell?! Even for the Tories this is beyond ridiculous and nobody with more than 2 thirds of a brain would ratify it! (I hope)

All because SOME disabled people abuse the system! Smfh.

As a disabled adult myself, I've lived with/met more disabled people than I can count who could literally no more work than I could put on a cosplay cape/wings and fly South for the Winter.

Thoughts?

you can't buy everything you need with "vouchers", sometimes you need money and there's no way around that...

True, but all the Tories care about is appeasing the far right rhetoric that ALL disabled people are "workshy slaves to the benefit system", even though like I said this morning, there's MILLIONS of severely disabled people who are mentally AND physically incapable of working.

It's not going to happen, The Tories got handed arguably their worst defeat since just after the 2nd War last night apparently.

First and foremost, it never would have happened even if the Tories had won. It was a sounding board to try to convince some of the more right wing minded people to stay with them rather than vote for Reform. Sunak and Hunt are far too centrist to believe that such a policy would ever truly be feasible. All that would have happened would be that further studies would have been commissioned, and possibly a recommendation to combine payments into more streamlined systems (i.e. move PIP/DLA/CA etc into the UC framework), and to provide better support to allow people to apply for funding for QoL support.

Secondly, it was the worst defeat for the Tories in a long while, but I'd say that they handed it to themselves. Labour didn't exactly win the election, the Tories gift wrapped it for them!
