Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-II

Anyone played this? The cheapest I can find it anywhere is on the Playstation Network for £40, it looks amazing but has had some mixed reviews.

Looks good! If I remember correctly I think it's like £18 on Amazon. What are the reviews on this game, if you don't mind me asking.

Its £49.99 on amazon at the min O.O;;;;;

Some reviews say its childish and not very good at all, other say it's amazing and very original. They're very 50/50, seems like a very Marmite game.

I see! You correct about the price. I saw the game for about £37:50 the cheapest and another one called Hyperdimension Neptunia for £14:91 the cheapest. The one your talking about must be the seqaul to the original, Then the £18 one I saw on amazon was the original.

I was debating this one a while ago, but at some point decided it looked a little girlie...Yea I know, weird reason for not getting it, but that's what I thought at the time. Honestly it looks ok, I'd consider it, but Rose Red's opinion won me over, I'm kind of on that same wavelength when it comes to games. xP

There's a lot of PS3 RPGs like it, like Cross Edge. Cool cover but gameplay suffers.

XD I have the game, I kinda actually prefer the challenge the first one gave me with the random chance of item usage thing rather then in here where they let you use items so long as you have sp... still fun for me though, Gotta love parody rpgs. You should definitely get it if you're into parody rpgs like disgaea or any of those ones. NIS/NISA games are awesome!
EDIT: Just gotta say that one of the golden rules of these mixed review games is that it WILL appeal to the RPG lovers so long as said RPG lover doesnt mind the old classic turn-based/ Phase shift battle systems.

I managed to find the first one (brand new) for £18 in a local shop, so i'm currently playing through it. I'm about 15 hours in and my initial comments are:

It's more like an interactive graphic novel sandwiched (quite sexily) between a classic Dungeon Crawler style gameplay, with turn based and combo based combat. There are many little jokes and references to games while still maintaining the parody on the overall gaming industry.

Some of the 'graphic novel' scene's are a little arduous at times, I've found. Also turning off the STUPID American dubbing helps quite a bit.
