      Re: Scenes from my life (noirre's ALJ)

      the play didn't really have key roles i'd say, the character i played wasn't the one the story was focused on but everyone in the play got an equally amount of attention i'd say.

Though, the guy who claimed to be your boyfriend, as annoying as that is at least he seemed like he did have good intentions with what he was doing. Are you and Lauri still together? (:

      @siegfried. : Ah, one of those plays. I see.

      @kid stardust : WOMAN I'VE MISSED YOU. And I think you went by hedonist the last time we were chatting here, but I'm not sure. And nobody hates you, they are just drowned under you babbling and are scared to say a word in edgewise.

      Also lawl, you're at a legal drinking age now! I'd forgotten that.

      Yeah, the dude pretending to be my bf is actually one of the regulars, he's an ok enough dude, always asks me to play more blind black men music. We're stil an item with Lauri, and come September, I'll actually be his sempai. Ohhhhh the torture I'll bring him...

      Yeah I have a skype account, though I've never use it (yeah, makes sense, I know). You can pop my calling cherry

      @kid stardust : So you claim... Oh relax doll, you know that in this case, I'm your partner in crime. I sent the skype name to you, but then again, you already noticed... And wh00t. how old are you now? I have an inkling the legal age is higher there, because a gal in her 18th year gets a drink here.

      @siegfried. Well the most important thing is to enjoy what you do, so that sounds like a time spent well.

      Re: Scenes from my life (noirre's ALJ)

      Ok, I won't bother writing this in a scene-format, since this is not about a certain moment but more about a collection of memories and my general thoughts about stuff I see on a daily basis.

      I currently work three jobs. I host karaoke on wednesdays and thursdays, do DJ gigs on fridays and saturdays and work as a shop clerk in a grocery store rest of the time. Although vastly different on a first glance, all my jobs are, in their essence, customer service. I work between 27-60 hours a week, and that means I meet a lot customers. Many of them I meet every shift, and I can't help but wonder about what their life is like. Some people leave me wondering about many things in life. For example;

      1. A woman in her 40's or 50's comes to the shop everyday. She always buys at least a 12 pack of beer and a pack of cigarettes, but many times she buys these items several times during my shift. At first I thought she was buying them for underage kids, but later I found out that she hangs out with a bunch of drunkards. On sundays she's usually waiting 20 minutes or more behind the doors for me to open the shop and even then, she only buys beer and cigarettes, first thing in the morning. It's the only grocery store in that town of some 400 people.

      2. A very, very obese girl comes almost daily. She usually buys only cigarettes, apparently because her mother (who is also obese, though not as badly) buys the groceries. Last time she bought food, she bought 100 euros worth of pizza, hamburgers, chips, soda and dog food.

      3. The same girl's brother only ever buys energy drinks. He's not obese, but he's diabetic and has to shoot insulin eight times a day.

      4. A middle-aged man buys a pack of cigarettes and beer almost every day. He seems to be in good shape, but my boss told me that he's part of a religion where drinking is forbidden, so he always hides even a few bottles in a plastic bag and never returns the recycling bottles. A young lad living next to him fishes them out of the garbage bin where he stores them in black plastic bags and brings them to the store. He buys candy with the money he receives.

      5. A woman with dreadlocks comes with her two children, also daily. Her children, while very well behaved and polite when asking their mother, always get what they want - which is candy and ice cream, every time they come to the store. The mother usually buys cigarettes and either frozen pizza, soda or fries. While I cash her groceries, she jests how "healthy" things she's buying, but then tells me that she buys these things because her child won't eat anything else. Her older daughter is very heavy for her age. Her mother has also told me that the nurse at their school wants to test the child for diabetes. Two weeks ago she told me, that she's pregnant. I somehow sensed that she doesn't want to be congratulated, and sure enough, she then said that "things really don't go the way you plan in life. I don't need another child, I need the first one back."

      So I... I don't know. I carry these things with me and I wonder. How are people's life so fucked up health wise? Why do these people take so bad care of themselves? Why don't they take care of each other?

      It makes me sad.

      Hey girlie! I thought I'd return the favor since you came to visit my journal =) Congrats on becoming purple again, L&W I presume?

      Working in a grocery store I often see the same scenarios as you described in your last post. It makes me angry to think that people would let their children get unhealthy to the point where they could develop diabetes. The kids don't know any better at least not at the level an adult would understand.

      @siegfried. : Thanks, glad to be onboard again... Colleague.

      @Ivory : You presume correctly. I actually gave a bit of a laugh when Mike asked me. It's like holy cow, I'm here three minutes after over a year, you missed me that much?

      And yeah, that's exactly what I've been thinking. I know I'm overweight, but I'm overweight because I love chocolate a bit too much and don't exercise and I know it. But I eat healthy meals, meaning a lot of veggies and fruits and berries and only whole grain bread and pasta. I know for a fact that I get all the nutrients I need. I cringe when I see kids that are very badly overweight, almost ball-shaped, and they eat just crap that has no nutrients but all the bad stuff that rots them inside. it frankly makes me want to pull the ears of theri parents and shout that DO NOT BUY THAT SHIT. BUY PEPPERS AND BANANAS AND A CUCUMBER AND TOMATOES AND BASICALLY EMPTY THE VEGGIES SHELF.

      Modship already? Noice

      And yeah, I'm surprised you have that many routine customers who shop for generally the same issues. I feel like I'd get really sad seeing that happen a lot. Between the fact taht, as you said with the weight thing, watching parents not take care of there children/not be smart parents would really bum me out and all the sad people who just drink/smoke, I don't know. I'd end up trying to help them somehow.

      I work in clothing retail,( we were just talking on skype about this I know) but half my customers are overly successful women who don't have cares. But there are a couple who come in and they drag there kids in and you can tell these kids are seriously neglected and that his or her mom has a major shopping problem. One woman got a divorced because of her shopping and she still spends around 400 bucks each time she's in the store :/

      @siegfried. : That, and that it also can actually affect your brain causing euphoria and dulling pain. http://www.ehow.com/facts_5114080_ch...cts-brain.html

      @kid stardust : Yeah, I'm THAT loved.

      And yeah, I do try to help them at times. The woman with the dreadlocks I tried to help by gently suggesting they could try to make stuff her kid likes, like pizza, themselves and making it healthier. She said that they used to. Didn't say more about the subject, so I don't know why they stopped. And wow, that woman has some serious problems. o.o;; I bet you feel like you should say "do you really need all this stuff?" or "should you get help?"
