Re: [Easter Battle Event]VaanDiablo vs DJ_Desolate vs Séverine [W]

      The Red Amaryllis

“Just Like Jesus,” she murmured driving the final stake into place. Blood clung to her hands and face where she’d wiped sweat from her brow. Sitting back on her haunches, Sister Mary wheezed, the Devil attempting to take her over once more. Inhale through the nose, release through the mouth. Her personal mantra for dealing with the Devil who’d ridden into the village strong and swift, taking root in the hearts of all the villagers. The ghosts of worshipers past loitered in the Garden casting menacing looks her way.
The soft amaryllis bent under their less than corporeal weight.

Ignoring them a second time this day, Sister Mary touched a bony finger to her son, the Priest’s chest. His eyes rolled up at the gentlest caress he’d felt in ages and groaned. “Just like Jesus,” his mother, Sister Mary, the former town trollop cooed. Metal stakes protruded from his wrists and ankles, binding him to the cross. His eyes continued fluttering open and closed when his throat could no longer release screams of pain.

Slowing rising from her kneeling position in the soft wet grass, she walked to the only bench in her garden of red amaryllises. Fewer and fewer had bloomed that spring. The sickness came here and touched her garden. Nothing and no one had been spared when the evil swept across the land, invading every home, settling deep inside everyone. For days the hospital closed. No new patients were admitted. Families began burying their dead in the Lord’s backyard, her garden, when the cemetery reached its capacity.

Looking down at her handy work, her son was a marvel to behold. Red pools spilled from her his hands and feet, flowing into the earth. The life essence of a Holy Man, forever more potent than any rain could nourish her red amaryllises, she prayed. “Lord Jesus Christ, I know you will give me strength to forgive, strength to persevere, strength to live. I beseech thee to take the life of my son, a Holy Man worthy of your greatness. Let his flesh be soothing nourishment this dry, infertile land needs and his blood the elixir that feeds the crying needs of the long gone dead. Amen.”

Bending down she lowered her lips to his ashen face and placed a fleeting kiss on his sunken in cheeks, hollowed out by the sickness that had consumed him too. His pale body wasted away during the months prior. All that remained was skin and bone. Bare to the waist, his rib cage gleamed in a stray ray of light beaming down from the heavens. His ankles and wrists, pinned to a cross laid down in the ground with long eight inch stakes, holding him down no longer shook. Long after his tears and sweat had dried, his blood would remain.

Inches away from his face, her perfectly red moist lips hovered above dry mouth with little beads of foam rising out of the corners. She inhaled the stench of death, silently remembering the scent of the man she birthed. “My personal Jesus,” she whispered against his lips, “Save us.” Slowly and gently she pressed her hands to a single amaryllis that hadn’t been crushed under the wooden burden Sister Mary had erected. Its stems had wilted. But the petals had turned a deep crimson, having been saturated with the blood of her now dead son.

Then and only then did she weep at what she’d done. Weeds swayed in the strong gusts of wind that lifted her hair and cap, whispering tales of cold rains to come. Sister Mary gathered her skirts and left her garden to return to her single cot in the basement of the Lord’s House. The same cot she’d slept on sicne the Lord too her in under his wing when she was just a lass fifteen and pregnant. Too tired to eat, and much to weary of the food anyway, Sister Mary traipsed down the wooden steps that creaked ominously, scaring away the mice that traveled the same well worn path.

A single candle on a rickety stool lit the tiny room, big enough for a small cot, the stool, and a small box for her clothing. Disrobing quickly, she hastily covered herself with a blanket and almost immediately fell asleep.

      *****

The next morning, dressed in the same black and white Nun garb that she’d worn for decades, Sister Mary emerged from the Lord’s House and into her garden. The ground was wet but not a single cloud shone overhead. In the center of her garden lay her son, red and bloodied, missing both his eyes, he looked to be at peace. Red Amaryllis that weren’t there the day before threatened to overtake his body, basking in the buffet that was his Holiness.

Re: [Easter Battle Event]VaanDiablo vs DJ_Desolate vs Séverine [W]

The year was 20XX… Children were celebrating outside cheerfully, looking for easter eggs that their parents had hidden around the street. All except one child. An orphaned boy named Desol. He was a peculiar young boy, and a realist at that. None of the other kids could keep up with him, so no one ever played with him. Though He was mature enough to look after himself, and clever enough to work through life. He still wanted to play with other kids and do immature things for once.

He thought that though he never really got to doing anything like that. He simply lived his life alone in his house with the inheritance he gained from his parents.

He was doing the usual routine around the house, when he looked out the window and saw the kids cheerfully running all over the place shouting "I'll find it first!" or "Im not going to lose!". This reminded him that he had no friends nor parents who would be able to look after him. "I wish everything would just go away" He thought to himself as he continued with the usual routine.

"Happy easter, happy easter, what the hell is so freaking special about this day anyways?!" He yelled out in frustration. He usually wouldn't be this bothered by it. He himself was confused as to why he just lost it for a moment there. Maybe it was the built up resentment over the years of not having anyone to play with?
Or maybe he just needed some fresh air?Either way, he was free for the whole day.

After finishing off what he was doing, He got out of the house walked to the nearby forest. He always found the never-ending breeze that flows through the forest so….soothing… As if he could just forget about everything, and just be away from the daily stress.

Soon as he got deep enough that no one could see him, he started to breathe in as much air as he could with all his might. "the air here is so relaxing" He thought in enjoyment of the environment.

Just then, a rustling noise came from the bushes. It wasn't a very strong rustle, so it couldn't have been a tiger or lion. Desol simply stood there looking towards the direction of the rustling.

The rustling paused for bit, as if noting the fact that Desol is staring right at whatever it was that was causing the rustling. Thats when a short, stubby tail suddenly popped out of the bushes. "Wha- what in hell?" Desol thought as he hesitantly stepped closer to it.

The tail suddenly disappears back into the bushes and a rustling noise could be heard again. This time, heading away from him. Curious, Desol followed the rustling of the bushes, running after it like it was his own pet dog that got out of its leash.

Running after it for what seemed to be a good 5 minutes, Desol came to a halt. A majestic site could be seen right infront of his very own eyes.
A field full of easter eggs, and rainbow coloured rabbits hopping all over. It was truly a sight to behold.

One of the rabbits started hopping towards him.
"So you are the boy who cannot see the joy in easter?" the rabbit asked him in a stern but somewhat cheery voice.

"Woah, did you just talk?!" Desol said, being surprised and confused at the same time.

"Please, do not be alarmed." The Rabbit pleaded. "we simply wish to talk to you"

There was something about the way the rabbit spoke that made Desol feel at ease. It somehow reminded him of how his father would speak. Calming down, he started questioning the rabbit.

"Are you really a rabbit?" he asked In a serious tone.

"Yes, we are all rabbits. Normal ones at that" The rabbit replied.

"Can all rabbits talk? I have never heard one talk before" Desol questioned further.

"Yes, all rabbits can talk, but only those with pure hearts" The rabbit replies in a kind manner.

"So your saying I have a pure heart?" Desol asks

"yes" The rabbit replies "although your heart seems to be in a dark place." The rabbit says further on.

Desol stopped his questioning, and start to walk through the field.

"At easter, we make our own easter eggs out of the flowers of this field." The rabbit explains. "We then carry these eggs to the house of a person deserving these things, and leave them where they would see it."

"i see… That explains where they got the colours and patterns on it." Desol thought to himself.

"Well, we designed these eggs to give people happiness both in easter, and in any other day." The rabbit proclaims. "If you wish, we could design an egg for you as a symbol of our meeting here today."

"sure, why not?" He said in reply to the rabbit.
Suddenly, all the rabbits in the field start picking up flowers all over the place. Then, they started tying them together like a piece of string. Soon forming an oval-like shape with a very unique design. The process was quite peculiar, but somehow, desol found himself enjoying the day for once.
He glady took the egg once it was done and placed it in his room. He ended up always going back to the same place every easter, and each year, his mood brightened up even more. The rabbits would always make him an egg from the flowers of the field, each time a different but none the less wonderful design. He finally found the happiness he had longed for.

I'm going to wait on vaan for a little bit as he had to be away from AL. I'll PM him to see if he has done anything/still wants to take part. Depending on the answer I will add the poll.

In the meantime, try and get everyone you know to come and vote in these battles!
