Twilight, Harry Potter both are synonymous with shit. Or at the very least the fan base is full of out of control individuals who will spend most of their adult lives stuck with a pre-pubescent mind set while attempting to seduce Justin Beiber, may he rest in pieces as soon as I find a barber willing to cut his lovely locks.. and his head. Or tongue. I could settle for a tongue removal.

Harry Potter is brilliant and not in any way, shape, or form comparable to Twilight.

What Zen said. But without the endearing part. Harry Potter might not be the best-written book, but it's nowhere near as bad as Twilight, nor does it teach as many terrible lessons to young women as Twilight does.

I've read all of the Twilight saga because it was like watching a train accident with the hopes that the inevitable, horrific crash might not actually happen.

The first book is awful but at least it's not the clusterfuck of crazy that the others achieved with steadily-increasing momentum.

I actually consider Harry Potter to be very well-written in that there's nothing glaringly wrong with it, as there clearly is in many of its contemporaries. Rowling created an entire universe that had been conceived of thousands of times before and yet was somehow remarkably new. Her main characters -- let's ignore the side characters because honestly she has a problem with using them solely for plot devices -- are likable and easy to relate to because she does an excellent job of making them imperfect but still reasonably incredible enough to face the challenges and pressures she subjects them too. Let's admit it, no one cheers for someone who doesn't impress us, but we also hate people who just glide through tribulation like it's a day at the beach.

Hermione Granger was voted the second strongest woman in literary history, and considering her intelligence, level-headedness, and the fact that she's the only main character who keeps her wits and optimism about her enough to never have a complete emotional breakdown (something Harry is frequently subjected to) is more than justification for that.

Though I absolutely approve of the fact that Jane Eyre beat her out for first place. Now that is a woman.

Except for right at the end where everyone gathered together in one place and it was all EPIC SHOWDOWN TIME and nothing happened. Until that point I didn't think it was possible to get blueballs from reading.

I'm being ever-so-lenient in my description.

Also Raine: Totally meant to respond to you in my last post and then had a bout of stupid. As far as international legality I'm pretty up to date on what can go where. I'm horrified and amused at how I need to pay attention to international porn laws to ship something I scribbled out. Lawl.
As for the childrens book, I've know about that for a while but having it read out loud by Saumel L Jackson just made my entire life time. Thank you for that.
