Clan points - A proper scoring system with trophy!

So the whole clan system has been re-vamped as we have listened to our attendees and this is what we purpose:

Clan trophy - This will be a shield awarded to the clan leader in which AL will have engraved to keep for future events


Top 3 individuals - The top 3 will earn a small trophy


So How will points be earned?

Only the top 3 earn points:

1st place 5 points;
2nd place 2 points;
3rd place 1 point.

A Flip chart in key places to display current score throughout the day.


Points can be earned from:

All gaming tournaments
Card gaming – probably only Yu-gi-oh as the others are not popular
Pub quiz
DDR
Talent show
Cosplay Auction – (most amount paid gets 1st place etc.)
Dub that Anime
Other Stage events that can be scored

Finally a decent system compared to points for LAC4...felt weird.

Btw besides all those i assume there will also be a clan battle on stage with mystery things to do ? to also win points.

I have spoken to Lise (Head of Stage team) and can confirm you ca earn points from that segment too.

Providing it is going to happen of course.

BTW falling of stage will lose you points

I think there zhould only be one board in one place to stop confusion. Also while it might have to be a flip chart for lac5 it would be cool if we could get a nice laminated card score board with al logo and mascots on it etc. It could have velcro patches for.attaching disposable sheets on for ppl to stick their points on so its reusable for.every event

This points system sounds like a really good idea! The only thing I would say is to not have the cosplay auction as something that get points, since clan members would just bid for their own people wouldn't they? haha

Money goes to charity so does it matter ?
max would win is only 3 points anyways :p sooo if clan members would vote, pfft they still have win the bid and think really worth losing alot money for 3 points ?
cosplay auction/masq gives chance for cosplayers to win points.

Nothing has been set in stone yet, but I cannot imagine people will pay more than they normally would, just to earn points.

Saying that, if they do:

They get indiviual points
The clan get points
The Charity gets more money.

Sounds like a win win to me

This sounds really good to me. If you kept the point denominations down to (like 2 types) then anyone could look at the board and get an idea of how well each clan is doing. You could possibly throw in some sort of white board to keep track of totals.

I'm not so sold on the individual scoring thing. The clan competition promotes people working together, individual scores can promote a much less friendly form of competition. Plus you would have to track them somewhere, which might be complex since you'll have to make sure to get peoples badge names during/after events.

Lastly, could we do something to allow people to join a clan on the day so they can participate. If you had something that was you clan identifier like a badge/sticker and a desk you could get them from; It would be a little more staff work but if someone tracked it you could even give a point bonus to the clan the recruited the most people over the weekend.

No wayy i say have both clan battle which will mainly have teamplay, and indiv which still wins points for your team besides never know more then one person from same team may enter tourny or so ?, p.s the pub quiz also involves team play i just think nice have mixed of both.

Cant get away from individual points due to things like vg tourneys tho we are constantly trying to come up with ideas for new clan battle events so if u have any ideas let us know!
The points recording system will be as simple as pos. Atm my fav idea is that crew will have unique stickers that they will give to event winners who will then be able to add them to.the clan of their choice on the board
