Re: Could you be in a relationship with someone who had a physical diasability?

Well, this may seem shallow of me, but it depends on what the disability is specifically. A missing arm or leg, I can handle, but it would be hard for me to warm up to a person in a wheelchair.

Re: Could you be in a relationship with someone who had a physical diasability?

I think I could, it depends on the disability the person have. When I was in highschool freshman year I joined the basketball club in my school and when I was accepted, the new guys meet the netball team since we were apparently "one-big group". I meet many of the netball members and time went on I befriended most of my bball teammates and some in the netball team.

However one day after a netball match one of my netball friend was hit by an accident on her way home and we found out when her parents called her friends and asked where she was just before the hospital that had her called her parents. When she got out of the hospital we were all shocked when we found out that she was in a wheelchair and she finally told us that her doctor said she was paralyzed from the waist-down. At first she still attended netball matches and practice to cheer on her friends and sometimes in bball matches too but after awhile she became distant until she finally quit the team. But one day when I stayed behind to practice some more I saw her alone just standing near the basket holding a ball, at first all I could do was watch her until my coach who also stayed back due to some work I think told me that she's been there for over half an hour and I finally build enough courage to go and talk to her which I was hesitant before. ~~~~~~ To cut my past experiences short - When she became disabled I became close to her and everyday after afterschool clubs are done I would stay with her and just talk to her and just shoot some balls with her, and I would also accompany her home, sometimes playing video games with her, watching a movie, it was a lot of fun and one of the meaningful memories I have of my hisghschool days though it didnt last long. As time went by I started to fall for her and at first I kept it inside since a friend of mine told me that if my feelings arent genuine then It will only show as me showing pity on her - which she would hate me for. But just after my 2nd year is coming to an end I finally decided to just go for it and told her about my feelings. She was suprised but she then rejected me at first I was suprised and I told her that It wasnt because I was showing pity on her and my feelings are really true. She knew it was and then she called her mom to pick her up. When summer vacation started and ended both me and her never saw each other and when I started my 3rd year I found out that she went to america and a friend of hers gave me a letter that she wrote and in it tells me the reason why she rejected me. After this I spent my remaining highschool years playing ball, going out and started a few relationship her and there. But I still keep her letter with me even now and also because of it I started being more wary about people with disability.

So the answer to your question is it truely depends on the person's disability - though the only one that I will never never go out with is a person who has a timelimit disability. Meaning a person who has a timelimit on their life, I havent meet one but I have watch a tv drama about it and I truely hated it - not because its bad but maybe because I dont think I will be able to handle it if I fall in love with someone and have a relationship with them - only for them to be taken away from me harshly.

The TV Drama that I was talking about

I looked into the game that you played and was looking at the different disabilities the characters have like lilly being blind etc..When I looked into misha's possible disability - I found that I have the same sort of condition which led me to believe that In some form have ADHD and OCD - since the symptoms of both are quite common to me.

Short answer to the name of your thread; yes.
Longer short answer; Why not? Appearences are worth shit all.

(P.s. Misha doesn't have a disability, she joined to school to learn to become a sign language teacher, if I recall correctly)

I havent played the game just looked at it in wikipedia and it said that misha might have that disability but I think it also said that in ACT II or something cant remeber that she joined a programme. Maybe the sign language teacher programme that you said.

Sign language for disable are really helpful. I tell you one think my friend's friend is partially disable and he can not able to hear properly. He joined the sign language and after joining this course there is a drastic change in his attitude. He can now speak to anyone very confidently with his sign language. And I must feel such persons should not be neglect from the society.

Re: Could you be in a relationship with someone who had a physical diasability?

I would say I could go for it, simply because attraction-wise, I'd go for just about anyone with a personality that made me smile. I'm a very affectionate person, and I could easily see myself becoming intrigued with some who, say, had burns or an amputated limb (Especially after I got the initial "Oooo, shiny! OwO" out of my system).

If anything, a severely burned person would make me interested to know what kind of person they were. Same with amputated limbs, or any other physical disability. Mental disabilities would be harder for me because I wouldn't really be able to work with that.

The big reason why I DON'T see me dating anyone with a physical disability...would be because of the same reason I COULD date them. I'm a very, very affectionate person. I like to snuggle, jump, bounce, hug, kiss, tackle, run, chase, etc. I like to drag people I love around with me, like to randomly pounce on them and snuggle before darting off to the next shiny thing. I like to do new things, like to explore, like to stick my nose into things and yelp when it bites back. Someone with a disability...

      Well, let's just say I have a rather horrific image of me tripping into a wheel-chaired person's lap and breaking the wheelchair. Or a leg. ^^;

Re: Could you be in a relationship with someone who had a physical diasability?

I would like to think i could if I cared about the person especially as I have epilepsy and although it doesnt affect the way I look or my day to day life too much, except for things like being unable to drive etc. I often worry that a guy would not be able to except it or treat me differently. I believe you should treat others, how you would like to be treated and plan to keep an open mind!

Re: Could you be in a relationship with someone who had a physical diasability?

No sure what people think of as "disabled", but personally I had cancer as a kid and ended up with one kidney, followed by the installation of a chemotherapy port in my shoulder and weekly treatments for 18 months. Of course, that shit not only causes your hair to fall out, but later down the road wrecks your teeth. By the time I was 22 I had to have every single one of my teeth surgically removed. Because of the kidney I can't really play contact sports or go to war, but other than not being able to do shit I wouldn't want to do anyway I'm all good. I thought having the teeth removed would be an issue when dating until I found out what the first thing on a woman's mind was after they found out I could remove my teeth. On top of that they look 100x better than the original and I can eat anything I want.

As for dating a disabled chick, I'd love a mute one. Too many ex girlfriends that talked back.
