      The Hobbit (2012)

      http://www.thehobbit.com and http://www.facebook.com/TheHobbitMovie

Fantasy Adventure. "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever ... Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths ofguile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities ... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

      Re: The Hobbit (2012)

I'm totally looking forward to this (and totally not posting here just so it goes in my subscribed threads)

I forget, but is one coming out next year and the other in the following year?

Yes, I believe so. The first part is called 'An unexpected journey' and part two will be called 'The Hobbit: There and back again'.

It's funny though, The Hobbit is such a short book...but hey more middle earth is fine by me.

      Re: The Hobbit (2012)

Never understood why this is so popular. And now I need to endure various people in my life fawning over it every day.

I mean I don't think that the LotR trilogy is necessarily terrible or anything. Well-made, decently acted and all that crap. But they aren't anything stellar either. Better than the books at any rate (Tolkien's writing style is stupid face and boring show).

Fuck this particular shit though, because it's nothing but dwarves and I fucking hate dwarves the most (aside from hipsters of course but that's pretty much a given).

      Re: The Hobbit (2012)

My guess is it will be much better than the LOTR Trilogy.

I am a huge fan of the Hobbit and I have high hopes, I really want this to be a great movie. I need to see this now, it needs to be in theaters yesterday.

I always thought The Hobbit as a book was much better than the LoTRs hopefully the movie will be the same

Honestly have yet to complete 'The Hobbit' so this should give me an incentive to finish reading it.

      Re: The Hobbit (2012)

I am mostly psyched to see what kind of Dragon design they managed to come up with for Smaug. Being voiced by Cumberbatch I'm expecting this to be one of the best Dragons to grace our screens. The film on a whole has me pretty excited though, I just hope they managed to make it half decent. I always prefered the Hobbit to the LotR's trilogy, so I'm hoping that fact remains the same for the films =)
