Those all sound like hipster bands. Pretty sure they're shit.

I mean what's with the superfluous extra "z" in "Wizzard" anyway. Unless that's just a typo, that means they're either trying to differentiate themselves from the other shitty "White Wizard" band by adding the extra "z" and probably emphasize that fact by accentuating the extra "z" in their band logo somehow. Like making it bigger than the other "z" or maybe a different color. Or maybe they emphasize both "z's". I don't know. But clearly their music suffers for it as a result. Not that they really needed any help making terrible hipsterfag music in the first place.

As for the other ones, who cares anyway. I mean they're probably Brit bands on top of everything else, and no good bands have ever come out of Britain since like the 60's.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. White Wizzard (2 Z's intended) are an American band that basically revive 80s style Heavy Metal, similar deal with Skull fist. Amaranthe are a blend of Power and Melodic Death metal who have some really catchy songs in their self titled debut album. I could go on, but I've gone off topic enough in this thread as it is.

Also...not a big fan of metal where it's just some guy screaming into a microphone for 3+ minutes (I have no idea what genre it is, and I don't really listen to metal anymore since I have no idea what's good/bad and I can't afford to blind buy CD's (yes! Surprise, surprise...I PAY for music...WITH MONEY!! Oh what a fool I am ^_^) but I used to like Symphony X....not to be confused with Liberty X which is teen girl trash pop....a guy who worked in a majority metal record store didn't know the difference...oy vey!)

Anyway, Symphony X are fragging awesome! I saw them live this year and they've become one of my favourite bands of all time!

As for bands that "Scream into the Microphone", that's a little bit of a vague term. From my understanding, Harsh vocals come in a large variety. You have the very low end of Canibal Corpse who do the most death growls. But then you have more mid-range growls where you can still figure out what they are saying, with bands like Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy and Ensiferum. You also have the more high pitched rasps of bands like Children of Bodom and Equilibrium. Those bands are what I feel are cases of harsh vocals done correctly.

However the same cannot be said for the likes of Attack Attack! and Design the Skyline, who are trying WAY to hard to be "Brootal" and so just end up making noise.

An AMV or two recently reminded me of the Fast Food Song as covered by the Fast Food Rockers. The song is dumb and annoying...but ultimatly harmless and still has it's good points.

The same CANNOT be said for Eric Prydz: Call on Me. It is a chrous ripped right of some 80s pop song, added an ANNOYING auto tune and trance beat remix to it and the rest of the (lack) in quality is made up for by scantily clad yoga dancing girls.

I'm not one to complain about expressing ones sexuality, but like so many pop 'musicians' of the past decade, it exploits female sexuality to get peoples attention and destract them from how crap the song is!

Also, I only need to say 2 words that will send shivers down peoples spine; Crazy Frog.

It seems that the pop industry has a habbit of picking the least talented hacks who are unable to sing. How in the name of the Chaos gods does "Only Girl in the World" become a hit?

And then we have the ultimate unholy atrocity known as Jenna Rose. Not ONLY is she uncreative as shit, but she comes off as being an annoying, greedy spoiled brat! And on top of all that, she is sexualised to the point where even the great lord Slaanesh would be ashamed! She's 13 for Slaaneshes sake! Stroking her ego and pretending she is sexy jailbait is the ultimate symbol of a cheap sellout who takes the spotlight away from artists and bands who have REAL talent!

Depends on the band really. Manowar is one of the most pretentious bands in existence, but I enjoy it because I don't take it too seriously. And at least, unlike ego filled pop stars today, they have actual musical creativity and talent. Plus the pretentiousness does at least make a nice community and unification force across cultures that doesn't seem to be mirrored as strongly in others.

As for FFDP, I actually think they are one of the better New Wave of American Metal bands. The anti-war sentiments and other aggressive themes are indeed nothing new, but I do feel that these themes tend to become relevent again as time goes on. "War Pigs" was relevent to the Vietnam war of the 70s, and "No One Gets Left Behind" is relevent to the modern wars in iraqu. Similar feelings expressed in a different way. So in that respect I think the agressivness of their music works well. Just my opinion of course ^_^.

At least they aren't as bad as some of the more "Brootal" metal bands who see heavyness as a badge of honour these days.
