What this topic is for:


1. Tutorials: We have tutorials for both listeners and DJs - new and old. These tutorials will show you how to tune into the radio and how to install and use the proper software to host your own show.


2. Sign-ups: If you've followed our tutorials and are ready to host your own show on our radio, then this is the place to go to sign up for your own slot! If you click "Sign-ups and Index" at the top of the page, you will be taken to a post with the sign-up form we need you to fill out and post here. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response.


3. Radio Index: You can find a list of all the timeslots we have available as well as our DJ information in this area. All times are in the current GMT (UK) timezone, so if you are in a different time zone, you'll need to do the proper time zone conversions.


4. General Inquiry: If you have any questions about the radio in general or have noticed problems with your DJ and radio listening experience, let us know! In at least 24 to 48 hours of your post, we will get back to you - in this thread - with a solution.

RADIO AND DJ TUTORIALS

Listening to the Radio


Shoutcast: If you are already savvy with connecting to a shoutcast stream, the stream URL for AL Radio is: http://www.animeleague.net:8000

I-Tunes: Advanced > Open Stream > Enter in http://www.animeleague.net:8000

Winamp: Go to File > Play URL



In the dialog box that pops up, type in http://www.animeleague.net:8000.

Windows Media Player 9 and above: Note: Windows Media Player 9 or higher is required in order to listen.

File > Open URL > http://www.animeleague.net:8000

Amarok: Engage > Play Media > Location > http://www.animeleague.net:8000

VLC: File > Open Network Stream > HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS > http://www.animeleague.net:8000


Setting up to DJ
Thanks goes to Isadro and RanmaGuy for this guide!

1. Make sure you have Winamp installed. Available here free of charge: http://www.winamp.com/player

2. Obtain the Shoutcast plugin, and install. Available for free here: http://www.shoutcast.com/broadcast-tools . Be sure to scroll down to where it says

SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Winamp.

3. Open up Winamp, and press CTRL+P. A window called Winamp Preferences should pop up. Go to plugins > DSP / Effect, and select the Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source plugin. A new window should pop up labeled Shoutcast Source.

4. Configure the plugin according to this screenshot:



5. Click on the Yellowpages button and configure it accordingly:



- In the Description field, type in your DJ name and or name of your Radio show.
- For the URL field, type in http://www.animeleague.net
- In the Genre field, type in the genre of music that you play (examples include Various, Pop, Rock...)
- In the IRC field, type in irc.zirc.net / #animeleague
- In the AIM / ICQ fields, type in your AIM and ICQ if you have them

6. Configure your stream settings by going to Encoder.



If your listeners experience skipping issues with your stream, change your Encoder Settings to a lower bitrate. Please note that the highest you can set your encoder settings is 48kbps, 44100hz mono, because it will kill Animeleague's bandwidth.


7. Go back to the Output tab, and hit the Connect button. If no one is currently on air, you should be able to connect successfully, where it says x bytes transmitted. The number goes up when you are successfully streaming. When you finish with your show, make sure you press "disconnect" - the connect button will turn into the disconnect button once you start streaming. If you do not disconnect, the DJ after you will not be able to do their show - so PLEASE remember to click "disconnect"!



Playing Music / Talking on Air
While you are on-air, you will be making use of the Input tab. Most people will see two listings for Input Device, Winamp (recommended), and Soundcard Input.

Streaming Music

* To start streaming music, select the Input Device as Winamp (Recommended), and hit play on your Winamp. You do not need to adjust your volume for the stream, as Shoutcast does this automatically in the background.




Talking With a Microphone

* To switch to talk mode, select the Input Device as Soundcard Input. Click on the lock button to enable talking.



*If your voice comes out too soft for listeners, you can adjust the Mic Level to a higher decible rating.

Right click your volume icon and go to Recording Devices



Click Properties and click the Levels tab, adjust your microphone, and/or Microphone boost to whatever works for you.





You are now ready to become an AnimeLeague Radio DJ!

Sign-Ups

What is required?
We don't require much - just 2 simple things. They are:

- The proper software downloaded, installed and ready for use. You can find the guide on how to do so here: http://www.animeleague.net/forum/sho...=1#post2459420
- Time to do your show consistently. We don't mind if you miss some shows - life happens - just don't make it a habit.

How do I sign-up?
Simple! Just fill out the form below and post it here!

DJ Name: What alias would you like to be known by.. Ie: DJ Mike, etc.
Proposed Show Name:
Ideal Genre: What type of music do you prefer to play?
Genres: What genres can you do? How versatile are you?
Anything Else: Anything notable about your show or idea?

What happens after I'm accepted?
Once you receive a comment here from the Radio Head Android 18, you will also be PMed for what is called a DJ Trial. This is where you will schedule a day and time for you to host your show - on dead air. If you pass the DJ Trial, you will be given a permanent slot.

Along with being given a permanent slot, you should also make a DJ thread here in CC. This thread should include the following:

- Your shows name, day(s) and time(s).
- The genre of music you will be playing as well as a complete list of songs you have.
- Anything else that you think will get people interested in your show.

Once last thing we require is all DJs need to be in AL Chat during their time slot. Failure to do so will result in your DJ slot being revoked. You can find the AL Chat rules and guide here: http://www.animeleague.net/forum/sho...ules-and-Guide!

All timezones are in the current GMT (UK) time zone. You can find the DJs information by clicking on their DJ name. There you will find information about the DJs show and be able to ask them questions about song requests or any other information not listed.

Wow... the Radio is finally coming back....

Well I guess it's time to dust off the old playlist and polish it up once again to be ready for use once again....
Consider me one of the few to be willing to return. I actually kinda missed having something to do in the evenings...

DJ Name: DJ Raiji, Raiji, Alchemist Raiji...whatever works...
Proposed Show Name: Overload Alchemist's Insanity (My former show was "Lunar Pandora")
Ideal Genre: Mixed
Genres: I can pretty much do anything genre wise. I have a little bit of everything from Classical to Death Metal, Soundtracks and a slew of other stuff.
Anything Else: I am a returning DJ. My shows will likely be in the evenings (US)/late night-early morn (for the UK'ers), and on occasion may start a little late, though I may try to set a time I know will have the lower risk of me doing so. My biggest obstacle is my rotating work schedule usually, so I never have the same days or or same set hours. I am likely going to go with something that is probably around 8:30-9pm EST, with extra slots during dead air times and when I can for chat parties or events if I am available and not working.
-I do take requests, and if I don't have it, I can likely find it and add it to my playlist. Just give me a Artist, Song Title and other info I need. If I cannot air it that week, I will air it the following week. I do have the software where I can extract music from video if needed, but a direct .mp3 is usually better, especially in quality.
-When I air a show, I do hang in the AL chat, but the fastest way and less likely to get lost would be contact me over Skype or AIM while airing if you wish to have a request played. I usually open my different Messengers during a show and the contact handles would be in the show thread
-Shows may be placed on Hiatus for the week or be done ala "Convention Special LIVE" on weekends I am attending a convention. This will be mainly dependent on my internet accessibility. During the month of November, my shows may be placed on a "Vacation" mode for NaNoWriMo, unless I decide to juggle the shows with the insanity of NaNo.

Alrighty, here's how I'm gonna do this right now. Everyone who has just signed-up and has had a radio show with us in the past will be automatically accepted and added. Since we do have a radio show this Sunday, I want some DJs up soon-ish and going through EVERYONE for the individual hour long "training" will be too much with schedules. However, if you want a test run I'm more than willing to do that with you, just send me a PM and it'll be done. Otherwise - welcome!

As for the sub-forum, it will be up shortly and will have a topic on DJing for the chat party in there as well. You'll be PMed with this information when it goes up. Otherwise, I'll be PMing all of the old DJs who still had a show before the move to get them back. And then I'll PM all of you to get your individual slot times set-up.

VERY old DJ returning here and I'm interested in dusting off the ol headphones and mic for another round. I still need to sort out a few things like buying cables for the rig I'm planning. Because of this I don't plan on really starting up until at least next year.

Ideal Genre: I will be playing various musicalisms, on my own show I play a variety of things, and I play an album start to finish if I think it's something that I believe should be heard at least once by everyone. I also occasionally read terrible fanfiction and on some occasions I have delved into literotica, (with hilarious results)
Genres: I do not often take requests, unless someone asks for something that I already have. Generally, we play rock/metal, funk, video game music, occasionally other things come up
Anything Else: I can also occasionally stream videogames using livestream, so I could do this as an alternative activity
