My crazy adventures in the little known land of England

      Name: Sam
Location: Bath (SW England, near Bristol)
Interests: Anime/Manga/Gaming (Well duh...), Sports (mostly rugby, but I'll give anything a go), anything else which isn't dull as
Manga: I will read just about anything, but the best have to be things like Onani Master Kurosawa, The Breaker (and new waves), Suzuka, Smash!, Mx0, Bakuman and I'm sure I've forgotten loads more.
Books: At the moment, I'm reading the circle trilogy by Nora Roberts, nearly finished the second. ROMANCE+VAMPIRES=WIN
Anime: Slowly getting through Penguin Drum and Madoka Magica, when school allows me time, I'll finish
Gaming: Gamertag: richard mcgee. Games: FIFA 12, Alan Wake and WET(Taking ages, as playing WET for too long makes me feel ill) at the moment, but I'm a massive Mass effect fan (can't wait for 3) and various JRPGs.

*Disclaimer* I highly doubt my "adventures" will be all that "crazy", but I hope we'll get some form of conversation going on here, perhaps about my less crazy adventures, perhaps something completely random and off topic. I don't really care how it goes down.

So have I got anything interesting to say? Dunno really. Guess I could talk about LGC. It's gonna be awesome... I hope. Staying 3 nights in the arsenal tavern hostel (£40 bargain), and I know absolutely no-one there, so this weekend could go either way. Ah well. At least brentalfloss will be there. He would never let me down

Re: My crazy adventures in the little known land of England

Thanks for another welcome. I think interesting is the word for the coming weekend

I thought I should mention my musical side. I'm into any good rock, especially with sweet guitar parts, like 30 seconds to mars, Van Halen, Queens of the stone age etc...
I'm a keen guitar player, I lead a youth band, alongside my friend Matt, who's an amazing singer

Do you guys have any songs in youtibe or something? I would like to hear your songs.
And thats very artistic of you, atleast in my opinion, cuz I never had the chance to learn how to play an musical instrument myself.

I like almost any kind of music, I even fall asleep when I hear Hard metal, cuz it really calms me down

Nah there's nought, apart from maybe when I was about 13, strumming acoustic guitar to something cheesy. It's for my local church, so we only practise once per month, but we rock out the kids' service, and I love working with the younger guys, and I can't wait to see what they become. It's a lot of fun actually, really rewarding, and it keeps my playing sharp, as my practising has become pretty lazy recently

      Basically the short answer's no.

      I see
And I can imagine, especialy the thought that they can become successful in that area because you helped them.
But I cant imagine myself teaching anything to anyone, I just dont have the patience for such

Mm that's the hard bit. I have patience issues too. Most of them are good enough not for me to need to teach, just lead. The hard part is to shut the drummer up

Yeah mass effect is awesome. My friend bugged me for months to borrow his copy. I eventually borrowed. Loved the story, got lost in the citadel, then loved the rest. I later lent my own copy to a friend, who dissapontingly couldn't do the first level on easy. He couldn't find the bombs. Even now, that still confuses me

Re: My crazy adventures in the little known land of England

So I thought I'd post a little con update, as I've just got back from the second and last day of the LGC

Going into this event, to say I was nervous is an understatement. I was going to London alone, to a con which not only had I not been to before, it was my first ever con. Also, unlike everyone else, i wasn't staying in the con's accomodation, as i booked myself in too late.

I eventually found my way (after getting lost) to my hostel, where I quickly found that I wasn't booked in, and they were booked for the second day and I was told I wouldn't be able stay. To cut a long story short, I eventually got upgraded to a 9 man room.

After settling in, I mad my way to the Dover Castle, where the other con-goers were staying. After a few awkward minutes at the start, we eventually got talking. This is where I met 3 of our 7 man group (I think I saw two others, but didn't really talk to them). Later on, that 3 (Neil, Wil and Danni (D-Moonlight and I don't know hpw to tag)) went out for buffet Italian, where we all put pretty poor performances)

The next day, I got to the con 20 minutes early (I underestimated the london tube system), and after waiting for a while, met the full compliment of our 7 strong "Troupe". We had been joind by Psyniac, Emzez and James(or Jeimuzu, as he's apparently known online)). I should also mention that Danni was in an amazing Yuna trainer cosplay. I was very impressed. We went in, and found our way to the opening ceremony, which was followed by a Brentalfloss Q&A where he revealed his song for the first day of "brentmas": Ducktales the amazon stage.

So the day went on, our group, which had now become "We are error", came second in the pub quiz, and we went on to play games, eat a dodgy dinner at the cheap takeaway over the road, sing along to brentalfloss, and join his hilarious Mad-Libs, during which, 2 of our 4 running jokes of the weekend started. These were the phrases "Hold your Blueballs" and "To spife", both results of Brent's amazing sense of humour. Earlier, we had found the first of these jokes, at which point we displayed our high levels of maturity, as we found tghe train station named "Cockfosters" infinitely amusing.

We later spent an hour queuing for a meet and greet with Floss, and filled the rest of the night gaming, drinking, and enduring the karaoke.

Between that night and our trip to TokyoToys the next morning, our fourth, and final running joke was discovered. It somehow became that 'Floss' song: paperboy with lyrics had becpme the anthem of team We are error's weekend, and we took to singing this, along with many other with lyrics songs, on the tube. This apparently garnered us a few odd looks, but as this was a gaming con, we didn't care.

The rest of gthe day went well, Neil and I, joined by Wil later on watched Area 11, who were epic, and amazing showmen. This was followed by our daily dose of Floss, where even more hilarity ensued. See Psyniac's video here http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=...type=2&theater. At this point, sadly, Danni had to leave, as apparently, uni is more important than LGC.
Later on, we made our way to the FFZ panel, where despite a few hiccups, got me very excited about the beta coming out soon. This was followed by "whose game is it anyway?" hosted by brentalfloss, but the less said about that, the better.

We spent an amazing night, however with Psyniac and Emzez leaving early, myself, James, Wil and Neil were abandoned to the rest of the night with Brentalfloss, Benazie and Petros. Well, I suppose I can forgive Psyniac, as he was the one who invited his friend Petros, who brought along Brent and Benazie to join us.

Well the night was amazing, with Brent getting pretty deep with us, and being an all round awesome guy. And where can you go wrong with drinking, glow sticks and sonic music?

And as the time neared 12, when the trains apparently stop, we left the con, and I separated from Wil and James (Neil had left slightly earlier) this was a sad moment for me, as this marked the end of the con, I'm here, writing this at 2am, whilst knowing that my coach leaves at 9 20 tomorrow, but to be perfectly honest, I don't care, as the excitement from the con has left me tireless

I'd like to thank the staff who put on such an amazing event, all members of We are error for the amazing and fun times we had, and Petros, Brentalfloss and Benazie, for being such amazing, down to earth guys and contributing towards an all round awesome night.

I should also apologise, as this report was supposed to be short, but It has become very long, and most likely to an unbearable amount of detail, but for me, all the events here weren't overlookable, as each action of others made me feel closer, each panel or running joke adding to an amazing experience. I can honestly say that my first con was the best weekend of my life, and I can't see any other con topping it, nor can I imagine meeting a nicer nor more genuine group of people.

Bath, born and bred. What about you? do you know any anime/manga related stuff going on in and around our cities? I sure don't.
