So you think all of those people with lung cancer just don't know that they're healthy?

      Re: Smoking

the reason why they quit isn't important what is important is that they did. sometimes people require a goal or target to achieve soemthing and usually a target set by someone else is easier to stick to

occasional smoker, but only when i drink. even then i'll have one or two and that's it. i hate the smell of them in the morning, so it keeps me off them 95% of the time
i don't take kindly to you posting round here

      Re: Smoking

Right to set a goal to stop smoking for someone, and then fail it?
I have heard that story far to much in my life.

Most of the people close to me and in my own family that say they are going to quit for someone, rarely actually do.
It should be a bigger goal to quit for yourself and prolong your own life.

Yea I hate the small of them, but I'm so used to it now that I can't even tell the difference anymore. Kinda sad. Everyone in my family smokes so I'm around it so much. But the taste of it is the worst.

smoking forms a dependancy. it's not easy for everyone to break a habit. it requires a level of dedication which plenty of people do not have.

      Re: Smoking

i think anti smoking campaigns should have more stuff aimed at people who haven't smoked long enough to be actually addicted. I think allot of people think they're addicted when they're not, it takes a good while to become dependent on tobacco but some people think they're addicted from the first pack. more focus on getting out while you can, I smoked for just less than a year and i quit without having any withdrawal symptoms.

      Re: Smoking

I think that people are free to do whatever they want, so people smoking is fine with me.
I only hope that smokers are not insensitive to the people around them.

      Re: Smoking

Ive never, and will never smoke. Being 23 I was lucky to avoid the hooking period when teens think its cool.

My bf quit in a month, I was so proud of him, having smoked for 10 years nearly (hes 30). He used patches, and ultimately quit to.save money.

      Re: Smoking

I think each to their own really, I have family members that smoke. I think it's good either way if you quit, it must be really hard so at least there's determination if your quitting for someone else, and even better if they're mega supportive. My dad used to smoke but he gave up and he hasn't smoked in almost 10 years! I've never touched a cigarette, I've been offered but I'd rather keep my body off the stuff, I can't even stand around smokers without coughing and struggling to breathe so it wouldn't work out for me either way!

      Re: Smoking

Smoking is a sign of either weakness, arrogance or stupidity. Weakness if you know you should quit but cannot, arrogance if you choose not to, and stupidity if you fail to understand why smoking is bad.

Good tobacco does smell lovely, but it is still not worth it though.

      Re: Smoking

What if you smoke knowing full well that it is bad for you.

      Badass.

      I'm gonna do it.

Right in front of a security guy at a government building in Ontario. No, Quebec. Yeah those guys have all the crazy laws and punishments. Maybe I'll even get the guillotine heh heh.

      Re: Smoking

What I think I like best about you reno is whilst a lot of what you say is funny, insulting and seemingly unhelpful it all seems to have something quite well thought out behind it.

And mutsumi driving a car is a sign of weakness stupidity or arrogance weakness because you can't be arsed to walk it get the bus, stupidity because of pollution which is bad for you and arrogance if you are aware of the harmful effects of emmisions and still choose not to because where you need to get to is somehow more important that the earth we live on.

By that same standard lots of things can be listed as the same. Drinking eating too much fatty food watching tv. So then is your post, people all the time do things that are bad for them over a period of time people who play sports get bad joints people who look at computer screens get bad eyes.
I take it you're a non smoker and I assume from your pedestal you live in the mountains where the air is fresh and eat only organic food grown yourself because living in a city or town amongst people where its noisy which could damage your ears and polluted because you couldn't go it alone and live a perfect life would be weak and stupid if you realised the potential benefits of the clean air and fresh food and arrogant because you thought it wouldn't affect you.
